You're the gm on draft day (some of us think we actually are, me included) what trades do you think would realistically help the team? I would package this and next years fifth rounders with Keith Rivers for asanti samuals and a fourth rounder. Then still take a cb in the 1 of the first three rounds. We need corners and eagles need backers. Asanti is a bit older so that's why the fourth but he is probably a better talent so that's also why the two fifths as well. Any ideas or criticism

No chance on Samual. He by himself cost the Pats the Super Bowl a couple of years ago. He is overrated.

No question he has had ups and downs but I think he would be a decent 2 or three depending if he beats out clements. We would groom the cb taken high for a year or two instead of throwing him in over his head.

No way I'd give up Keith Rivers for Asante Samuel. He's a pretty good CB, but we're thin at LB talent as well, and Samuel is on the wrong side of 30.

He makes to much and i do not want to give up on Rivers just yet. Plus from what i read he does not seem like a team guy.

Your taken a guy that has predominantly played in zone coverage schemes in Samuel and inserting him into a more man to man coverage scheme that we run and he is over 30. I wouldn't touch Samuel unless it came at a very cheap price.

Trades that I would make:

I would use a 3rd rounder (if we get a 3rd round comp) to move up to get DeCastro.

That is really the only move that I would make since there are a ton of free agents that could fill our other needs at WR, CB, S etc.

Hoe far can you move with a 3rd? Seems like we need to get in front of AZ to be sure.

I completley agree......what would a 3rd rounder or next year's 2nd really matter to lock up DeCastro? Move in front of Dallas maybe.

If that happened why not trade the 21 and move further down the line and pick up a CB like Gilmore and that 2nd/3rd rounder it took to get DeCastro.

As much as I am disappointed in Rivers, I'd like to see the guy come in healthy and have to fight for a job. Thus far, everthing has been handed to him. Just maybe it will light a fire and we'll see some aggressiveness

I was going to propose a trade question, so I'll just ask it here, in your post, if OK.

Would anyone consider trading next year's conditional with Oakland, which will probably be, about a mid to early second rounder, for an extra pick this year. That pick could be a 1st, next year, although not likely. I would think it could fetch, at a starting point, a 3rd in this years draft. I figure it's tradeable.

That's a good question.

I don't think Oakland reaches the AFC Championship game next year (but I didn't think SF would reach the NFC Championship game this year either) so it will most likely remain a 2nd round pick. So I think you're correct about that.

I also think you are correct that a 2013 2nd round pick could be traded for a 2012 3rd round pick. (Maybe even NE's 2nd rounder at #63.)

I guess it would depend upon what player I was targeting. For example, if Zeitler slipped into the top of the 3rd round, I might consider that trade because Zeitler has a second round grade and fills a need. Which would allow the Bengals to target another need with pick #84.

Final answer, it's a definite maybe.

I'm not sure Samuels is the guy, but I like the idea. I,for one, don't think Hall can be counted on next year, at least not early in the season. I would like to draft a CB (Not before a G), but we really need two. The age and injury problems really give us little at CB. Therefore another WR, either though FA or trade would help. The problem with a trade is if we lose a draft pick. The picks we have this year and next are too valuable to give up for anything other than a starting spot solution.
