• Notre Dame S Harrison Smith stood out during drills. At 6-2 and 213 pounds, he may not have elite hip fluidity, but everything is smooth and under control. There's even more to like about the way he played the ball and his potential to develop into a playmaker. He is a natural pass catcher with big hands (10¼) and long arms (32⅝ ) for a safety prospect.

I think this is our guy. He is use to playing outside in the weather being from Notre Dame and we could use a big ball hawk who is physical.

Doesn't belong in JN, but I would definetly like it if we get this guy in the second. Although we already have enough project players at saftey, I would prefer a vet in FA.

I would definitely like to get him in the 2nd. But I don't think he will fall down to us in the 2nd.

We need a safety, but I don't like the "has the ability to develop........." because our organization ***** *** at developing players.

I'd rather get a vet and save a draft pick.

He can't cover anyone. Notre Dame had some of the worst pass defenses in the country while he was there, and he actually played more of a LB position for a good portion of his career.

Safeties rarely go as high as people think they do pre-draft. 2010 was a rare year with a few good prospects. As we can see, #4? Mays didn't deserve to be a second day consideration. Few do.

He wouldn't be bad in the super late 3rd, 4th.

How many safeties have fluid hips. That and speed are why they're safeties in the first place.Hes a big in the box type safety and fits the Bengals style of defense. We lost in the playoffs do to our run defense and an in the box type safety will help stop that from happening not to mention we are in the AFC north where you run the ball alot.

i watched the combine and when Dion Sanders gushes about him having the fluid hips you guys are complaining about means he's the real deal. At Safety. I can see some the CB being drafted to play Safety but this team can't afford to do that. I think anyone who thinks there will be room on next years roster for "developmental" players is crazy. The days of players taking up roster spots so we can coach them up for a couple years are over. There's too much talent. He won't be there in round 2 and he's not good enough for where we're drafting. If he's available as the result of a trade down in the top of the second, I'd like to see him in stripes.

I brought this guy up a few weeks ago and he got mixed reviews at best. I had seen him mocked to us in the 2nd by somebody and was totally unfamiliar with him. Like I said, he didn't have a lot of support.

I like the fact that he plays the ball well. And he's no dummy if he went to ND.

Sorry to break it to you but days of developing players will never be over.

I do the same exact thing

But I actually like Harrison Smith and wouldn't be opposed to getting him. I like him and Floyd from Notre Dame, but those are the only two prospects I have liked from there in years

And that likely hindered his development as a safety. Mayock likes him a lot, and he looked very good in all the drills. It depends on who else is there at 53, and what we did in round 1 and free agency. But under the right circumstances I would not object to taking him in 2.
