1. Rashard Mendenhall RB Ill
Had a very impressive combine, and has a good combination of size. speed, and all around skills. With the top defensive players off the board the Bengals shore up their running game rather than reach for a defensive player not of value at 9. 2. Trevor Laws DT ND Highly productive, and showed well at the combine. Combining with Domata Peko he will help shore up the interior. 3a. Jonathan Goff LB Vanderbilt Good size, speed and strength, the Bengals get lucky and he drops into the third round. 3b. Brad Cottam TE Tennesse Great size, and above average speed. He had all the tools to be a very good TE but had an injury plagued career. He's healthy now and will give Carson a solid weaopon over the middle. 4a. Kendal Langford DE Hampton A small school player with good size and adequate speed, he may be something of a project to play strong side DE but could develop into a solid player. 4b. Dexter Jackson WR Appalachian State On the small side but excellent speed, gives Carson another deep threat. 5. Fernando Velasco C UGa A big strong kid to give Ghiaciuc some competition. 6. Zach Bowman CB Nebraska Above average size and speed, good developmental player. Will be groomed at NB as Deltha's eventual replacement. |

I really like this draft. I really think we may pass on RB in the first but I'd be happy getting Mendenhal.
The one thing I think you need to add is a pass rusher. As of now we have Geathers, the othere are Henderson and Pollack, which haven't played. I would definitely hope to get one on the first day.

No first round defense, no care; especially not with a first round running back.
We will not take a running back on the first day.

I like this draft. Very solid. if we are in fact going to a 3-4 Goff would be perfect and can shed blocks very well In a 3-4 he will be a beast. One thing I would change is getting Pat Sims instead of Laws, I love Laws but Sime is a much better choice for a 3-4 and he is compared to Sam Adams so you can't go wrong their, the young Sam of course

I really like this draft, especially if we can pick up a DE (Odom) in free agency. If not maybe Chris Ellis, DE, Virginia Tech or comparable in the 3rd round and a linebacker in the 4th.
I know we have a bunch or running backs but all are either coming off an injury or are unproven. I really like Mendenhall because he can run and catch the ball. I love when people say we can just get a back like matt forte ("He is going to be the steal of the draft"). If he is so good why is he getting drafted in the 3rd round? Why can't be get a impact defender in the 3rd round? is there some rule that if you are a defender and get drafted in the 3rd round you aren't allowed to be an impact player. |
