Tommy, I did not see that in the article (I could be overlooking it). If so, where did you hear that? As much as I love watching Phillips play, I'd take Cole Hamels!!! Phillips won't be happy about that. He loves being a Red.

One tiny little mention in the first paragraph, and yes, if we don't intend on re-signing Phillips, I would definitely take that trade.

Oh, I see it now!! It would tear me up to see Brandon go, but Cole Hamels is a beast. I wouldn't take just any decent player for him. I think Brandon is the best defensive 2nd baseman in all of baseball.

With the injury to Madson this rumor might gain even more traction.

A rotation of Hamels, Cueto, Latos, Leak, Chapman would be good, but I have know idea what the Reds would do with B.A.

Arroyo would take the 4 slot and Chapman would be relegated to another season in the bullpen. I don't agree with that logic, but there's no way they roll with an unproven (albeit with immensely greater potential) commodity like Chapman in the rotation when they know they can get 200 innings from Arroyo.

I think the Reds will try to sign Votto over Phillips as both cannot be afforded in the Cincy market. Why not trade Brandon for great pitching? As for Chappy, he's going back to the bullpen IMO. Not by choice, but by need.

I think BP is much more "affordable" than Joey. Hamels is only under contract through this year like BP, so unless we could sign Hamels to a long term deal this trade wouldn't make sense for us. (imho)

I believe your right here, now i am wondering what they will do with Jeff Francis, he has been pitching effectively in camp.
