Also, the Bengals got spanked around at home pretty damn good by an up and down inconsistent Houston Texans team.
This is the same Houston Texans team that lost to the Jaguars in Houston earlier this year and the Jaguars got shutout by Seattle who stinks 41-0, they barely beat the Rams a few weeks ago in overtime, and just gave Tennessee their first win of the season this past weekend. The bottom line is the Steelers havent lost a game since they played the Bengals and lost they are 4-0 since, and beat two pretty solid teams in that stretch with good offenses in the Chargers and the Vikings.

It's all fine and good you can keep thinking the Steelers arent as good as last year. The Bengals will get a hard reality check when they come to Heinz Field for the rematch in 12 days from Ben Roethlisberger and the defending champs...There wont be no 4th quarter meltdowns this time by the Steelers and last second comebacks from the so called "cardiac cats" in Pittsburgh.
Really? Hmm...have you checked this team out lately? Apparently not! Us losing that game wasn't surprising considering we just got off a 3 game sweep of the division.

All this "logic" is garbage my friend. This is the nfl not college football. Here let me use your logic. Uh..we beat the bears 45-10 and you lost 17-14. So.....exactly. FAIL!!

Not saying were going to beat pitt, but will win 1 of our next 2 games. As you guys will lose 1 of your next 2 games. As long as we win 1 we will be just fine!

You better hope the Steelers lose one of the next 2 games because if the Bengals lose to the Ravens this Sunday it's going to give the Steelers who dont play until the very next night that much more urgency and incentive to win in Denver knowing if they do they will be in first place all by themselves going into the game against the Bengals at home here next Sunday. The Steelers thrive in big games and this Steelers team knows how to win big games they have done it enough in the past and they still know how to do it now. And believe me if they know they have a chance to take over first place Monday night with a win in Denver they will chomping at the bit to play that game. At that point they would have the opportunity to put the Bengals 2 full games behind them in the standings with a win next Sunday against them at Heinz Field with games coming up against the Chiefs,Raiders, and Browns 3 of the next 4 weeks for the Steelers. Not a position the Bengals want to be in. The Bengals losing to the Ravens this week and the Steelers winning in Denver Monday night is the ultimate nightmare scenario the Bengals and their fans do not want to see come true knowing they have to come play at Heinz Field and try and beat the Steelers one more time to avoid falling two full games behind them in the division with a lot more on the line this time around...

Right... The Steelers will be sitting there thinking "If only the Bengals lose, we can play EXTRA hard and be in first"

The Steelers will play their game regardless... it's only Week 9 and only Game 8.. there is still PLENTY of ball left to be played.

The point being they are well aware of the standings and know that by winning in Denver Monday night it will put all the more pressure on the Bengals coming into Heinz Field facing pretty close to a MUST win game...There is still plenty of games left I agree but as Ive mentioned the Bengals dont want to lose this week and have the Steelers win and be a game back in the standings behind them having to go into their place and win to avoid a 2 game deficit...Especially since the Steelers have games with the Chiefs,Raiders, and Browns 3 of the next 4 games which are the type of games that the Steelers just arent going to lose making it all the more tougher for the Bengals to keep pace with them and ultimately in the end catch them...

Yes believe me Im aware that the Steelers still have 2 more tough hard fought battles with the Ratbirds to go this season...The Steelers also have games left with the Chiefs,Raiders, and Browns, and also a game against the Packers in Pittsburgh who I dont think are that good and the Steelers should be able to handle...The way the Steelers schedule sets up the rest of the way if they win the next two against the Broncos and Bengals they are in a great position to win this division going into December...

ya, i see what your sayin, im to the point im done tryin to figure out all the possibilities of what could happen. im gonna support my team, hope they win, an if they do the rest is out of their control. i mean if we finish 12-4 or even 11-5 i see us makin the playoffs, and although the goal is not to make the playoffs but go deep in, the first step is makin it.

I was thinking about this very matter today and I pretty much agree. I'm not saying that they couldn't win in Pittsburgh if they happen to come into the contest a game back of the Steelers in the standings, but it would be about as close to a must win game as a Week 10 game could be. The Bengals just wouldn't likely be in position to make up the (likely) 3 games they would need to catch and pass the Steelers, assuming they would have the necessary tiebreaker (probably common opponents, if not division record).

Of course, the converse has some merit as well. If the Steelers do drop the game in Denver on Monday night preceded by a Bengals win over the Ravens, it's the Steelers fighting to avoid having to make up 3 games on the Bengals with 7 to play. Just like your argument in favor of the Steelers, the Bengals finish with games against the Chiefs, Raiders and Browns as well, not to mention the Lions. If they take the confidence of pulling off consecutive sweeps of the Ravens and Steelers, I'd be hard pressed to imagine a team good enough to do that giving up 3 games in the standings with that kind of remaining schedule.

Of course, that's not to say the Ravens couldn't pull off a sweep of their 3 remaining games against both teams putting them in the driver's seat. Then again, with the toughest of the remaining schedules amongst the 3 teams, this scenario could provide a thrilling 3-team scramble that comes right down to Week 17.
