I was listening to the AD's description of the circumstances leading to Petrino's dismissal on Mike & Mike this a.m. Don't applaud the AD because he had no choice, but to fire him.

Misappropriation of University Funds
Conflict of Interest
Abuse of Power
Lying to University officials before and after the accident
Attempted Obstruction of Justice (Petrino tried to get people NOT to call the police after the accident)

If the AD hadn't fired him, the university would have fired them both.

This guy may be the most classless coach in college football. I remember overhearing a parent of a U of L football player talking about Petrino at a NCAA tournament basketball game back in 06 or 05. They were basically saying what a jerk he was and how impossibly difficult he was to play for. It sounded like the kid was scared crapless of him.

He's always scheming and climbing no matter what. I still remember him trying to leapfrog Tommy Tuberville at Auburn when he was at the Ville. He apparently flew in to meet with Auburn officials behind everyone's back, and Tuberville was his mentor to boot. Nice.

All this said, I'd say that fans of Kentucky football would still take him over Joker Phillips, even if it were only a springboard back to a real coaching job. Joker's been awful and has apparently lost all of Rich Brooks' recruiting connections, because he can't get SEC caliber players anymore. Say what you will about Petrino, but the guy can build a college program with the best of them, and quick. Louisville was irrelevant and Arkansas was an SEC bottom-feeder when he took over. Both were top ten teams when he left/got the axe.

Someone will take a chance on him. He doesn't have the NCAA baggage that Tressel does, so it will happen. Just a matter of when and where.
