No one really knows if he can come back to his MVP form after 4 neck surgeries. Besides, with Andrew Luck pretty much guaranteed as the new Colts QB, the future looks bright for the Monster of the South.

There are a few folks here who kept saying that the Colts defense were the reason they hadn't won more superbowls with Manning. I tended to agree. But no more! It appears that the Colts defense will be a smashmouth type - like the Ravens or Steelers defense. Since I'm a big fan of smashmouth defense, I'm really looking forward to the upcoming season!

Yeah, yeah... I know the Colts are rebuilding and may take a couple of years to be competitive. I'm okay with that. But once they get their act together, they may put together a string of championship years much like the Manning years - except with more super bowl wins.
I am not a Colt fan, but it is good to hear a from a person who is a fan. You have a right to be excited about your teams future.
Good luck to you and your team!
As long as it does not interfer with mine. LOL rep for you

I suspect the Colts are primed to win nearly as many games as they did last year, I can feel it in the wind.

I have to give you credit. I thought the second Peyton was released we'd never see you again.

I suspect he was denied in his application for a Broncos fan card.

They play in a dome. They'll never be smash mouth. That's how Johnny U won the Baltimore Colts multiple championships; he played big boy football outside.

Why is this thread in a Bengals smack talk forum? Why not put it in the Colts forum, or at least one of your rivals?

The Colts Defense under Manning was meant to play with the lead. They could just pin their ears back and pass rush. They weren't built to play physical and stop teams from doing 10-15 play drives.

Of course they have to talk about changing that defense. You see what happened last year with no Manning? The whole defensive concept needs changed.

Dude... I'm a Colts fan! Although I like (and still do) Peyton, he's not the Colts. Did you consider never posting here after Carson Palmer left?

Because... this is the Smack forum and I've been on here since 2009? Also, the Colts do occasionally play the Bengals, you know... like last season - or don't you remember?

What's the matter? With your Ravens coach now our head coach and a bunch of Ravens defensive guys going to the Colts, you afraid the Colts will actually build a defense that can rival or even surpass the Ravens?

Yes, of course that defense with Manning was designed to play with the lead. But we don't have Manning anymore, do we?

The changes they're doing to the defense isn't minor. It's going to be MAJOR! They're attempting to build the stoutest defense in the NFL. Thus the "Build The Monster" mantra.

If Luck turns out to be as good as advertised and the defense gets built like I think it will be, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Colts in the playoffs within 2 years.
