Default Training Camp Last Year Vs. Training Camp This Year.

How is everyone feeling about going into Training camp this year compared to last year at this time?

Strengths compared to last year?
Weaknesses compared to last year?
Someone your most excited about?

I am personally a little worried about the QB position for some reason. I don't know why I can't explain it. If anyone else feels this way about the QB please let me know how or why I feel this way!!

Personally I like this year's QB better than last year's. Last year we had a 2nd round rookie with almost no training camp. This year we have an established vet.

Not too worried about the QB position at all really, well unless something happens to Dalton. *furiously knocks on wood*

1. I am completely happy that football is ready to start. NFL followed by the colleges. I love football, and while I like all sports, the Reds, Ohio State football and basketball, etc., nothing turns me on like Bengal football. I have no control over this.

2. The state of the team seems very good to me. Obviously, a lot of people feel like that, so that's no news flash. But we have what should be a strong bunch of players on both the offensive and defensive line, and it all starts there. But further, I think we see a strong positive feeling going throughout the organization and the fan base, and the players.

3. I understand some nervousness about Andy Dalton on the basis of the sophomore jinx syndrome. But I don't think Andy believes in that stuff, and I think he is really a different type of player. I think he will come through for the team big time. Look at his whole record in football, starting in high school. He is just simply, a winner.

4. Watching AJ Green is just a pure pleasure. Swift, graceful, a gamer, great attitude, great hands. I mean, how much do you want in one player. Gresham just keeps getting better, and I can't wait to see the competition for our other wideout position.

5. In all the projections about best players in the NFL for the future, the Bengals are just about the only team that always has two defensive linemen mentioned, in Dunlap and Atkins. We have other lineman who are also good, and who knows how good Still can be.

Yes, we have some concerns. I still worry about our running game, and the defensive backs all melding together into a good unit. The Kirkpatrick injury is certainly not going to help.

But overall, I feel great!

Actually, "Amen" simply means "I believe" so it's completely apt in this case as you believe what he is saying.

The only way I am worried about QB is if Andy is injured or is somehow beat out for the posistion because Marvin was brainwashed by Jim Harbaughs gypsy cousin Jezabelle.

I will most likely have more concern after preseason, till then I will just wait anxiously and stalk these boards.

Maybe you just like to worry for no reason. Only thing I can think of to explain your issue with the QB situation. Dalton hae shown absolutely nothing that would cause any concern. He stepped in as a rookie and showed the poise of a multi-year veteran. I think some just like to create cause for concern when there is nothing to validate it.

I do believe you are correct my good Sir. I think I psych myself out at times. I know what kinda of year he had last year and I am just nervous it wont happen again or expectations will be higher than they should be for a second year QB any case I can't wait til the season starts and get a better feel for what I hope is our QB for a very long time!!

WHO DEY!...

I'm optimistic every year. But this year, I'm excited. There are so many good things to watch for, particularly in our young players, but we also have some vets that are trying to re-ignite their careers. The competition has never been better in my memory. The talent has never been better on paper.

Regardless how the season unfolds, MB and ML have given their position coaches a talented roster of players to compete and have leadership in various key positions.

A question mark is if we have that game changing player at LB and S. I think we are merely serviceable at these positions right now. Rey needs a good season. He is a big key and I'm hoping he gets out of his own head and listens to Coach Zim.

The Giants have proven twice that you can win a Super Bowl with a dominate D- line and an average secondary and LB core. If the D-Line ends up being as good as everyone hopes our defense will be fine. It's hard to do anything on offense when a D-lineman is constantly in the QB's face.
