But for the record, I hope they win 100+ because that will take the division for sure
Of course it's hard...But not out of whack.

And if you think they'll coast you don't remember 2010 very well. Or any Dusty year. He's a big proponent of maintaining the integrity of the game and guys like to play for statistics for personal achievements the last few days.

Though I could see skipping a Cueto start if it comes down to that or him starting game 1 of the playoffs.

That's exactly what I used to figure out what the Reds have done and used that to figure out what they have left based on their own win percentage and their percentage against opponents over and under .500

26-25 = .509 vs teams over .500, 18 games left vs teams over .500 = 9-9/10-8 = .500/.555
37-16 = .698 vs teams under .500, 36 games left vs teams under .500 = 25-11 = .694
63-41 = .605 vs everyone, 54 games left with a .605 win percentage so far = 35-23 = .603 (which should be around 98-64)

those numbers were as of last night and don't include today's win
Bingo. People point to this hot streak which, yes, won't equate for a whole season...But neither did their iffy April.

Thats because dusty likes to overwork pitchers and ruin arms. See prior, mark and wood, kerry

So you wanted Dusty to go to the bullpen in the 4th inning again after getting a total of 5innings out of his starters the previous 2 games combined? It was imperative for Cueto to go at least 7 today.

It's no secret that the strength of this team is the bullpen. They need the starters to keep going deep into games ESPECIALLY down the stretch.

Exactly whodey1302.

Wow.....do they not realize that they have been careful with Cueto? Cueto is a veteran now, not a rookie. He's been in the league a while.

Also, 103 pitches in 7.1 isn't bad at all. I know he had a high pitch count in the fifth, then breezed through the next two innings . I didn't see the game, but I keep track of pitch counts online when I don't watch the game on TV.

It was outstanding that Cueto can bounce back from giving up 4 runs like he did. Dusty has handled our pitching staff wonderfully this year. A horrible manager would have pulled him after the 4 runs were allowed. I would have been livid. 4 runs is good enough for our baseball team to win the game, it was the great Johnny Cueto, so I don't see what the problem is. Dusty deserves credit for this team still playing hard without their two best players, and especially with Votto being out for as long as he has.

We must also add in the truth: Prior was ruined due to several crazy freak injuries including a baseball hit right at his elbow. Wood's freaky delivery caught up to him and several times over. He was a thrower, not a pitcher and was doing damage to his arm before Dusty got ahold of him.

I mean, look at Cueto, Bailey, Arroyo, etc. and tell me that Dusty "ruined" these guys arms, too.

Just as a footnote..

The man who took Brandon Phillips spot on the roster (Dan Uggla) is hitting .121 since June. The other guy, reserve ROOKIE 2B Jose Altuve is at a respectable .272.

Ane neither one is anywhere near him in defense. Great choice there LaRussa...

On the subject, BP thinks he's going to be out for a while as the diagnosis is worse than what they thought it would be Maybe a trip to the DL? Votto is also out for this weekend series, but he should be close to returning (I would guess by Friday...But it all depends on when he can run pain free.)

I'm watching your local TV broadcast right now bc I don't have TV and the Pirates TV stream isn't available.

LOL at your announcers though. The color guy talks for like 15 seconds about how the Pirates aren't a running team, get stolen on all the time and aren't that aggressive on the bases. Same at bat, stolen base Pirates.

What a great team the Reds are! Chapman was amazing as usual. Latos pitched a great game. And Marty looks better with his head shaved. My fiance said he looks much younger now.

None. It wasn't intentional.
If any, just the retaliating pitcher. With Mesoraco gone, I don't see anyone on this team getting ejected.

I'm banking on the retaliatee (is that a word) charging the mound. And if the first one doesn't, there will always be the next batter to throw at.

Although I do agree that it wasn't intentional.

But when there is the slightest increase in chance that a bench clearing brawl happens, how can one not hope for it?

McCutchen getting hit was completely unintentional, but I sure they will try to retaliate. The only problem is our two best players are already out of the line up so they wont be able to get back at our best player.

Latos is beginning to look like a sound trade more and more with every start.

I don't care what anyone says the only guy I hated see traded away in that deal was Volquez.

I was gonna say the same thing about Wood, I seem to remember his delivery having a ton to do with his injury issues.

Here we complained about him the first part of the season..Well now he will be very much a factor in the playoffs (which they will be in this year)!
