Re: Oh that silly Janoris Jenkins
Sure they do if he agreed to it. He is an investment whether he likes it or not. They are attempting to protect their investment just like any smart business person would do.

Just for fun, I did some quick and dirty math that in no way represents how it would unfold in reality, but may describe why Jenkins is annoyed (he is probably not good at math and does not like the answer).
JJ's base salary = $1,250,000 (I did not seperate out any bonus vs. actual annual salary) Uncle Sam's cut (guess) = $375,000 5% agent fee = $62,500 Financial advisor = $25,000 Net Income = $787,500 I have no idea how a judge would split the remaining money between 4 women with 5 kids and the player so I am going to assume equal distribution between 5 kids and JJ. JJ's actual annual net salary in this scenario would be = $131,250 I used to work with someone who was in a similar, but reversed situation. He had 5 kids by 3 different women, but was making 10/hr. He said that Wood Country could take up to 55%, or maybe it was 65%, maximum for all the kids/families. They would have to divy up that pool of money, as the law said they couldn't take more from him past that percentage. I would think Jenkins would find the county with the lowest percentage, and set up residence there...

This is not a huge issue by itself but It just adds to the list for JJ.
I am not a big fan of Kirkpatrick either but I am OK with us taking him. I'm just glad we didn't draft this guy. |
