Default Let's Jump to Conclusions

So, I realize that it is waaay to early to judge any players, but let's hear it - who did you think was either going to be a complete superstar or complete bust right out of the gate this year that is living up to your prediction.

I'll start - Dontari Poe. I thought this guy was a workout warrior with very little in terms of game film and production against weak competition. I thought he would be overdrafted and would be a waste of a pick.

SO FAR, it seems like he is struggling (or at least living up to my expectations).

As for a stud, I really didn't have any strong feelings about the 1st rounders.

Stud - Melvin Ingram - Looks a lot like Von Miller when he turns the corner.

Dud - Brandon Weeden - Weinke 2.0?

Poor Browns. I thought for sure they were going take a WR with their 2nd pick...They had so many problems, they just did not need a new QB.

Dud - AJ Jenkins: I'd love to see what SF saw that no one else did. How this guy went in the first round is just beyond me...

Stud- Luke Kuechly: One of the best picks in the first round in my opinion. Will be one of the best MLBs in the game in a year or two.

Stud: Alshon Jefferey. I feel like he's gonna have a good year
Dereke Wolfe. Underrated and think he will do well in Denver

Dud: Mark Barron. I don't think he will do as well as people believed
Justin Blackmon. He has potential, but I think he will be a bust throughout most of his career

I really think Kuechley, Michael Floyd and our own Kevin Zeitler are going to be studs in the league for years to come.

Duds......Blackmon, Poe, Brockers, and Weeden, off the top of my head.

On a side note, I really wish I had the same feeling for our other first round draft pick......

I thought Coples would be a beast and he looked really good in his first preseason game.

It's too easy to pick on Weeden. He has a horrible supporting cast and any young QB would struggle in that situation.

I'm not going to say dud yet after one game and a training camp, but from everything Ive read RG3 has had lots of issues in training camp reading defenses and adjusting to the NFL. That's troubling because the Redskins traded away their future for him.

You can't really say anyone is a stud or dud but now that rosters are starting to build and you can see who is in positions to succeed and who isn't I would go with some of the following:

Good:

Kuechly- Him and Benson beside each other with Anderson on the other side is a hell of a linebacking crew.

Alshon Jeffery- With Brandon Marshall rolling coverage his way, he is going to get alot of one on ones which has happened so far in preseason.

Coples- If Rex Ryan just asks him to rush the passer from standing up like a Demarcus Ware of sorts, he will have some big years.

Andrew Luck- He is going to be amazing. Watching him at such a young age is crazy to see how good he already is.

Fletcher Cox- That wide 9 defense is going to have offensive lines in fits if him and Cullen Jenkins can rush up the middle as well.

Melvin Ingram- Looks like Von Miller in more ways then one.

Bad:

David DeCastro- As much as I wanted him, he is struggling just like Zietler is.

Dre Kirkpatrick- Probably not going to get much PT this year and lets hope it doesn't derail his career and learning. Wasn't a fan of this pick and still hate it.

Mark Barron- He looked lost in their preseason game.

Justin Blackmon- This isn't against him as much as it is against his QB.

peterson had a fumbling problem early on as well, he looked very good other than the fumble, he was a little shaken from it though it seemed.

You do realize he averaged a fumble in every 43 runs in college correct?

I thought Brandon Washington was an instant contributor, he didn't make a 53.

Yes, but the other carry wasn't a fumble, so that is a positive.

Stephen Hill sure would look nice as our #2 WR right now.

From tape the kid looks great as a G. The Eagles run a lot of pulling plays and screens though and no one knows but them how he did in that aspect.

It has to be mental. He has all the physical tool. But Ive also heard weak arms and a weakness hand fighting defenders. Not easy to evaluate as an armchair QB... But sounds fixable.
