Interesting on reds live before the game, reds haven't lost a game when BP hits a home run.

They're also 44-5 when Drew Stubbs scores a run.

Am I the only one who would be hesitant to put Bruce in center?

Not knocking his fielding per se, just the amount of ground he can cover compared to Stubbs. Of course, these are the bats I'd want in the lineup, though. Not sure of the solution.

and of all places, they're trying this out in Houston which is probably the biggest center field property in the league

The one thing I can rely on Marshall to do is continuously prove me right.

He needs to see the field less often.

Joey Votto has only popped out TEN times his entire career. Yes....you read that right. In 2,523 at bats, he has only popped out TEN times. He went all of 2010 without a pop-up out. Only one last year.

This is another reason why he is better than Bruce and is the best hitter in baseball.

No, you aren't pook. But that's because you're sensible, rational, and have been a fan for more than 2 months therefore you've seen him in center in the past versus Stubbs and know the difference that Stubb's speed can make.

Not to say it's an awful idea, but right now give me Heisey and Stubbs in CF over Jay to preserve his body, legs and defensive psychology.

This is just getting dumb. Which I would expect from the less seasoned Reds fans posting.

The man has a 2.79 ERA and was brought into an abnormal situation (for what he consistently does...Which is keep leads for the 7th/8th inning) against a team that lit up our entire pitching staff except Sam Lecure.

Best everyday player in baseball.

Also, the best lineup for this team (with the current roster) would be:

1 - Brandon Phillips (2 - Only guy with plus speed who can hit consistently on our team
2 - Ryan Hanigan (C) - High average, great for hit and runs
3 - Joey Votto (1 - Best pure hitter in baseball imo
4 - Ryan Ludwick (LF) - On a tear with plus power. If he can maintain a .270+ average, perfect 4 hitter for us
5 - Jay Bruce (RF) - Separates the lefties, great power though inconsistent
6 - Scott Rolen (3 - He's been quietly tearing it up and is a good 6 guy
7 - Zach Cozart (SS) - Puts less pressure on him..Though still keeps Stubbs to (not) protect him
8 - Drew Stubbs (CF) - Our worst hitting everyday player at the moment, but if he's walked to get to the pitcher can get to 2nd easily.
9 - Pitcher - Because I'm not Tony LaRussa.

Cards fans mostly.

And people who like to complain and keep a potential Cy Young winner out of the ASG as well as a potential GG & SSer. And saying that he still wasn't being a pity, spiteful *******.

My ideal lineup would be:

1. Phillips (best solution for a leadoff hitter)
2. Cozart (makes more contact than Stubbs, has been successful here before)
3. Votto
4. Ludwick
5. Frazier (IMO, he has earned the job over Rolen.)
6. Bruce (a .290+ hitter in front of him to set the table.)
7. Stubbs (will see better pitches here with Hanigan behind him.)
8. Hanigan (don't like him in 2 hole because of speed.)
9. Pitcher

I think someone with decent speed needs to be in front of Joey. They have to be able to score from first on a double.

EDIT* I'm not questioning Dusty's lineups as they have gotten the Reds to a 6 game division lead and 25 games over .500

ali, this is the best lineup i have ever seen. with this we would be unstoppable. i have been sayin this for months, espically putting ryan hannigan there and ryan lundwick where you got him.oppossing pitchers would go crazy.we would kill most teams. now why is crap don't they listen to us? and why doesn't some of the players say this????

reliever marshall has lost 5 games for us this year. he stinks. as soon as he comes in i know we are going to get beat.and chris hensey is fat and out of shape. he needs to lose 15 pounds. everytime i see the dude in the dugout he is eating stuff.he flat out blew that fly ball to him and was way off to even come close to catching it.that should have only been a single if he would have let it bounce in front of him instead of trying to be a hot dog, instead it was a triple and just killed us.our bull-pen has been underprefroming lately with the exception of chapman of course.

A reliever's win/loss column isn't a good evaluator of their season. ERA, batting average against, WHIP are better true evaluators. Marshall has been as advertised. Nothing more, nothing less.

I assume you mean Chris Heisey. There was a time, not long ago, that people were saying how much of an upgrade he is over Stubbs. Very, very small drop off defensively, much better at bats, decent speed. You can't even begin to blame him for hustling on that ball yesterday. Should he have dove? Hindsight is 20/20. He's an all out player.

You do realized that the Cardinals had 17 hits yesterday right? There wasn't any one play that decided the game. And that during that 3 game series they hit .362 as a team? They are the number 1 hitting team in baseball. They can flat out rake. From top to bottom of their lineup, they can all mash.

Yea, there's no excuse for Cueto not being in there and Phillips should've been in as well although that was less of a travesty than Cueto. If Yankee players with the same creds got left out, the media would not have excused it at all. But it was Reds players and they love LaRussa so it was whatever. Total BS.

I never could stand LaRussa. My reasoning, Marty Brennaman didn't seem too fond of him, so that's all I needed to know lol.

Marty wasn't too fond of many people it seemed, haha. But, seriously...The best way to put it is to (try and) quote Brandon Phillips:

Quote:
“I’d play against these guys with one leg. We have to beat these guys. I hate the Cardinals. All they do is ***** and moan about everything, all of them, they’re little *****es, all of ‘em. I really hate the Cardinals. Compared to the Cardinals, I love the Chicago Cubs. Let me make this clear – I hate the Cardinals.”
BTW, I remember something in there that he said along the lines of "they get it from their manager." (paraphrasing). This was great. **** on that, Tony LaRussa!

not necessarily if Miley were to struggle with Arizona falling out of the race and Harper keeps up his recent struggles the rest of the year, Frazier will still see some games depending on the matchups

Next too votto hes the 2nd Best pure hitter on the team. even over phillips and bruce even though his swing is extremely unorthodox

well here's an example of where we'll still see Frazier - Rolen is hitting .222 vs lefties where Frazier is hitting .307 vs lefties, it's not as if Frazier will do completely nothing for the rest of the year, he'll still produce when he plays and it should be enough to keep up his consideration for that award
