The Cowboys decided they needed a fourth tight end more than a third quarterback.

According to Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com, the Cowboys have released quarterback Stephen McGee Saturday after claiming tight end Colin Cochart off waivers from Cincinnati.

They’re looking for short-term cover at tight end, because of the uncertainty over Witten’s health.

They got a pretty good player. Nothing exceptional, but a solid backup guy. Maybe he'll stick around there, and build a decent career. Good luck to him.

Hate to see him go to Dallas but happy a team is giving him a shot. Seemed like a great kid.

Wish him the best of luck. The Cowboys have a history of developing and using their TEs effectively so a great situation for Cochart. He was a small school prospect that I felt was developing quickly and showing promise in blocking and as a receiver. Hope things work out for him there.

that *****, he will come back to haunt us when we play them. i don't hope anyplayer does well if he goes to a team that we have to play.i never saw much in his play. he got beat alot in pass coverage. got pushed around by the big d-linemen.donald lee gets open and makes a good run after the catch for the most part.i have not seen much of the rook te to form an opinion. he never got a chance to play with the ones per ole marvin lewis.everyone be sure to watch marvin lewis and company get outcoached by the ravens staff. it will happen if ole marvin gets to make the call. lets all hope jay gruden and mike zimmer are making the calls at the dirty bird.s

Not surprised. He's a good blocker, with decent hands. Lee and OCharles are just more dynamic. To me, that says different TE plan for the offense this year.

I wish we would have seen more out of Charles this pre-season. I think the guy can be a stud but he seemed to be never utilized. We have to use the TE more this year. Good Luck to Colin

I love when other teams pick up our cut players. That used to be us on the other side.

It hurts when they leave and succeed, but it feels great if they fail...I know thats wrong but if they don't play great here, Im not rooting for them anywhere else and I dont care who it is.

Cochart was a developing small school product. Did you really expect him to play great already? If be continues to develop at the rate he was then Dallas will have a really good player.

Did Marvin slap your mother or something? You seem to have some deep issues with him.
