I like all the guys you picked. Jones is going to be the real deal. If Werner keeps it up, I think somebody will take a flyer on him in the 1st despite his somewhat raw state.

I just don't see Werner being there in Round 2 or Wing in round 4. Also, if they take Jones in round 1, I hope they go Jones or a stud Center in round 2. I don't think they will give up on Rey but maybe shift him to SAM and move Burfict to MIKE. I think they like Dunlap even though he is injury prone so I would be surprised with the first two picks as you have them. I personally would love it myself but don't think this team will do it.

You know Cleveland is going to do exactly that. What a cluster **** of a franchise.

Rob Rang has the Dolphins taking Jarvis Jones the #1 pick overall. I haven't seen that before. They also have Werner going #7 overall. His stock is sky rocketing it seems.

Would we use Jones as a SAM or DE? Most of the reports I see say he is too small for a 4-3 DE. But his phenomenal quickness should help him avoid being bogged down I would think.

Hybrid. I think he compares very favorably to one of my favorite Bengals draft picks of all time. David Pollack.

I'd almost be okay with a bad season if we got all those guys. ALMOST. Imagine having a healthy pass rush of Dunlap, Moch, Jones, Werner, Atkins and Still coming at you.



I'd also be very surprised to see Brad Wing fall that far. I know punters don't usually go early, but he's the kind of guy that could continually win the field position game for your team on special teams. Kid is a special punter.

Ive gone on record as I would take him as high as the late 2nd. And I stand by that.
Right now projecting outside the first is so hazy.

Marvin has been looking for his new Boulware since he got here. We thought we had him in Pollock, but bad luck took that away. We experimented with MJ and that didn't work. Then the guy we targeted in 2011 was taken and we just went with Moch. While I don't mind him, I never felt like he was the answer.

With all that said, Jones feels like the guy who could get the job done for us and finally give us a bad*** defender. Plus he's from our favorite school. I know people complained about how many USC players we took in the draft and that total is 4 players. Jones would give us our 8th Bulldog.

No problems with the punter in the 4th. Although I wouldn't be surprised to see us take Bulldog in the 4th since we've done that 3 years in a row and 4 overall since Marvin got here.

Another thing I realized is that we could potentially have 0 members of our 09 draft class after this season. That would be a huge disappointment.

I don't think that the Bengals will have the 11th pick. Probably 20 - 25th pick.

Jarvis Jones will probably be gone in the top 10.

Since 2005 Marvin has been searching hard for a OLB/DE hybrid.
Pollack, Lawson, Moch, MJ....
And as of right now, the Bengals have done nothing to show they will have a pick that late.

I hope you guys are wrong that we would be drafting 11th! Also want to actually see Moch play in the regular season as a situational pass rusher before we draft another DE/OLB player. Rather have an OLB that can play in space then yet another pass rusher at that position but understand the thinking there.

Bengals are 1-1. Lost to the Ravens (as they were supposed to). Beat the Browns (as they were supposed to).

Defense will stabilize when 3 starters & 2 rotational players return to lineup. Jason Allen, Dre Kirk, Pat Sims, Dontay Moch, and Carlos Dunlap.

I still don't understand hybrid. Pollack played exclusively SAM, right?

He occasionally put his hand down. But Marv has said he wanted his Peter Boulware. A SLB who is capable of putting his hand on the ground and being a premier edge rusher.

Drafting players that fit to scheme is very important.

I still feel that Werner is a bit undersized for a 4-3 DE (256 lbs & 6'4"). Jarvis would be a perfect SAM, imo.

Regardless of undersized or not, Jarvis Jones is the 3rd overall player & Werner is the 7th overall player in the 2013 draft (CBS). I suspect that both of these players will be off the board by the Bengals pick (15 - 25).

The Bengals need to add a 4-3 DE pass rusher & a 4-3 SAM early in the draft. As things are shaping up, I am uncertain if we can avoid getting a MIKE Te'o from Notre in the 1st. Perhaps, the Bengals could "gamble" again, trade back the 1st, and get an additional 3rd. (Trading back could make the Bengals miss a key 1st round player though. Probably too risky.)

I wouldn't be too worried about Werner's weight right now. 256 seems about right for a college end who will probably add 10-15 pounds after the season and before the combine.
