Default Who's ready for Dexter?

I am so ready for Dexter to start back up on the 30th of this month. I don't know what's going to happen and can't wait to find out.

I gave up on Dexter when they basically gave up and re-started the series.

*spoilers*

When they killed his wife and basically copped out of making a challenging and complex character in Dexter they basically just clicked reset and made him go back to being how he was in the beginning. Just as he was able to be more enjoyable and you were seeing a more in depth type of person. Not just a sociopath. But a guy torn between potential emotions and his drive to kill. Instead they just kinda went, "nope, back to start"

I'm Looking forward to it, but I won't get my hopes up. Like Berserker said,....Dexter fell off big time after the 4th season.

It's one thing to cop out on a finale and just use a cliche in a terrible, terrible way (Kurt Sutter Im looking at you) but they just copped out on their series and gave up developing their characters.

I dropped showtime since last season, but i'm sure I can find it somewhere. Show did fall off, and dexter is the only good actor besides mos def, but I still love the show.

I've always enjoyed watching Dexter. Like the others said, the writers kinda went the easy route last season. I'm hoping for a few interesting developments this season. At least enought to make me want to watch it on Sunday, rather than catching another showing through the week.

Correct. 4 years of build up to the season 4 finale, and it all went awesomely. Then season 5 starts, and it's like the show loses all creative direction.

How last season ended is the absolute ONLY way that they could keep the series fresh. It HAD to happen. If they don't pull it off well though, it will be a disaster.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to seeing how this season plays out.

I am pumped.
Best show on TV.
bunch of haters

What I did miss somewhat was the ritualistic kills. Where he takes the time to set up the kill room and they wake up seeing the pictures and then the knife to the chest. So dramatic, they seemed to get away from those types of kills last season.

Anyone else feel empty if you watch an episode and he doesn't kill anyone? I usually start worrying with about 5 minutes left in the show if he hasn't killed anyone.

I do miss the kills. That was one of my favorite things about the early seasons.

As someone who might have almost agreed with you about it being the best show on TV the first 4 seasons (3 is iffy), can you tell me what in the last 2 seasons made it the best show on TV?

I'll still be watching, I don't give up on a series....well that's not true. I stopped watching Nip/Tuck and Smallville live because they got so bad, but I did buy the DVDs anyway when they came out to finish what I started.

I hope he finally gets to killing Deb. WORST character on tv. For those that haven't seen it, here's the trailer for this season. It looks like the dark passenger or whatever is coming out in a big way this year:

PS I forgot about that video game nerd last year who dated the nanny (Angel's sister) I hope he gets whacked real early on this season.

I can't wait either but it's definitely lost it's mojo these past couple seasons. Although it is tough to have 4+ seasons of a show and not lose its touch.

Regardless, if he doesn't have a bad*** kill the first episode, I'm going to be HEATED.

SPOILER***

I also can't believe they ended last season with Deb seeing Dexter kill. Hope the writers know what they're doing! The past few seasons...I don't know!

I think the writers had a plan, then Dexter and Deb got married in real life and the show took a weird turn. Then Dexter fought and beat cancer in real life and then Dexter and Deb were divorced in real life. Last season was the season these two were divorced and I think that the writers will kill Deb off by Dexters hand by the end of the season. That is after they get together first.

Judging by the trailer ( and maybe I missed something? ) it does not look like they get together it all. I don't think she wants much to do with him. It looks like she's debating on turning him in the whole season until inevitably the finale where she lies on his table for a kill scene. Whether or not he can go through with it is the bigger question. If they end the season with her on the table at the end without showing what happens...gosh I'm going to be disgusted.
