Oh OK, still here the only thing the scrap yard will take is metals. And some metals they won't take unless you have over 100 lbs.

Montgomery County Maryland, has imposed a 5 cent tax on any plastic bag in any store for any purchase. So if you buy something, a cart full or a bottle of soap, you either bring your own bag(s), or buy theirs for 5 cents each.

Reason is, plastic bags are hanging in half the trees in Maryland, (it's the Maryland State Flag now), blowing down the streets, clogging up storm drains, and blowing all over the high ways. (I get home from work and there's a plastic bag in the grill).

Point is, what happend to paper bags? So the stores are too cheap to get paper bags like they used to, might cost them a penny profit, and we have to pay because the morons don't have sense enough to use recycle where paper bags that would at least be environmentally friendly and decompose.

Right.

Right.
Adding a tax is one thing but taking away what should be a choice is totally different. Here we get our choice of plastic or paper bags.

Right.
I agree with you about the paper vs plastic thing. One of the reasons I'm studying polymer chemistry is in the hopes that I can research new biodegradable materials.

If only Mr.Bloomberg put as much energy into the pothole and parking problems we have as he did with this soda thingy. I think fixing the pothols would create more jobs than banning soda. If he creates resident-only parking zones so I don't have to prowl for a space, then I wouldn't care what kokamaimie ideas he comes up with next.

You don't HAVE to pay anything. Just bring your own bags.

The big problem with plastic grocery bags is thatb they can not be recycled. They are so cheap to produce that it is not worth it to re-cycle them.

I figer, providing the bag(s) is on the store. I found a better solution, I don't buy anything in Montgomery County. So they don't get my money. So their profits go down. So then they don't hire as many workers. Layed off American workers. So then the unemployment rate goes up, and the unemployment compension goes up, and our taxes go up. All because the store owners are too cheap to provide paper bags that they historically provided for decades but might cost them a penny more than see thru thin plastic.

it would need to be based of body fat index and not weight... cause you can weight alot and still be inshape depending on how tall /thick you are etc.

not that this guy drinks a lot of soda... but i wouldnt call him overweight..

*also best commerical on TV right now*

Wow, I haven't been on in a couple of days, and this thread still sits at the top. What a weird twist from banning the size of sugary drinks, to plastic recycling, to weight loss techniques, and now politics.

I love this place.

We go where ever the random thoughts take us man....

But Sugary Drinks Recycling Weight Loss and Politics all fit into this subject matter. as in Politics have caused a ban on sugary drinks in a effort to force weight loss which will lead to more small plastic bottles needing to be recycled. and also could contribute to the zombie apocolypse
