Not you individually but look at these threads. No thread for Peko. Rey is a scapegoat here for no reason other than inflated expectations compared to returns.
He played like he should the start of last year pre-injury.
He played a good 2nd half and a poo-filled first.
Rey is not near the biggest issue like a lot of people say.

Ridiculous.
What is ridiculous? Expecting your stud DT to not be shut out by a horrendous Cleveland OL? He didn't beat one god damn double team all day. None. He got blown off the ball. Sorry but if you are a supposed beast, you still find ways to make plays. He is a damn fine DT but looks like he regressed vs the run.

Oh gee, that sounds familiar.
How can anyone say that about Burfict? Seriously. He was essentially a non-factor and Vincent Rey outplayed him.

Was that comment really necessary?

So what your saying is he can't personally do anything against but the run, but Rey can't be called out individually. So why did Rey run at the blocker and not the RB. He could have easily avoided him and tackled TRich. Instead he thought he'd blow that guy up. WRONG. It was he who got blown up. TRich ran right past him laughing all the way.

Yes it was.
Can he? Yes. Has he? No.

Are you talking about the TD run? Where our DT's (Both of em) got one on one blocked on a delay allowing the center a clear path to Rey?

So you're going to tell me he couldn't avoid the block and actually tackle the guy with the ball? Your starting MLB can't manuever around a Center in open space. In closed space it would be much much different. Size would matter there.

Tell ya what, Ray Lewis makes all of the tackles that our Rey misses.

I know he's the greatest ever, but it shows that it is possible to play with fire and avoid blocks.

I always get so jealous when I watch good teams play defense. Seems like their backers are always scary good.

He was flowing inside to go towards Richardson.
Mack came up and got him. Surpisingly, when you have a 310 lbs OL running at you, it doesn't take much to throw you off. Good block, good move by Richardson.

Not Rey's fault. But again, ignore our DL getting whipped up front.

It starts up front with good DL play. Ray Lewis almost never has to worry about his DL getting blown up.

But again, he is also the greatest MLB ever. So using his play to compare to anyone else's is silly

Yes you are right about the DL getting blocked off.

Okay I give you that. But if what you say about Geno "showing he's a beast" you should probably say the same about Rey. He certainly did not.

That is one play I would like to watch again. In real-time it seemed like he met the blocking head-on. If so that is just stupid. Like you said you just don't win against a 310 lb guy running right at you. Especially if you don't try to avoid it.

Rey has never been declared a beast and showered with the love like Geno. We post Geno as a top DT. Well to do that he needs to rise up when the rest don't. That is what separates good from great.

I just want you to know that I think our whole D looked bad. It just wasn't just Rey's fault.

Even if Rey gets blocked on the TRich run. What is everyone elses excuse? Where were they? No where. Just a total disappointment going into the season. We all thought our D would be our strength. Especially the front line.

I am in the group that wants Rey to succeed. It's just so frustrating when he is pedestrian.

As far as Geno goes, He was one of the bright spots on D from last year. People have faith and high expectations for him.

He didn't play very well today but he did get into the backfield and forced Weeden into some incompletions. So I don't think he was worthless or anything.

Was he worthless? No. But he has been far from "beast" this year.
It was the entire defenses fault. And it starts up front.

Gotcha

I think we could all agree on that.
