I think they'll need 97-98 wins to get the top spot. So, can they go 6-3 the rest of the way? The Brewers are playing some great ball and should be a tough series. The Pirates probably have revenge on their minds still from McCutchen getting plunked by Chapman, and the Cardinals series will be HUGE for them. Should be fun to watch either way.

Washington is a solid team, but I think they'll be eliminated in the first round if only because their super-stud is not going to be pitching and Harper has a whole year of data on him.
Still, I would like the Reds to get homefield advantage just because it means that they finished with the best record in the NL and probably baseball. Whether they do or not, however, isn't too much of a downfall as they're guaranteed to have homefield advantage in the DS & WS if they make it that far and could still get it in the CS should Washington lose. LET'S GO REDS!!!

Something tells me the new 2 road games - then 3 home games that the divisional series are going to have is going to be a problem for the Reds.

I really hate teh 1-game wildcard playoff. A team that finished 5 games behind another team can basically eliminate the better team from the playoffs (I don't consider the wildcard game a real post-season game.) Is that fair? I think not. At the very least, make it a best-of-3

Reds have 8 games left in the season and are tied with Washington for best record in MLB.
I would love to see the Reds win 7 more games which will give them 100 wins. COME ON REDS, YOU CAN DO IT!!! |

Also, as far as Latos is considered...Since the calendar turned to May he's been pretty much on par with Cueto: Latos - 12-2 3.20 ERA 160K Cueto - 15-9 3.12 ERA 137K Both of these guys, back to back, are going to probably give you a line that seems typical to them: 7IP, 2ER. With some of the guys we have on offense, that should provide us a very good boost for post-season success!

Well the 3 seed seems out of the question now, but I'm still torn on where I would want them to finish. I wouldn't mind playing the Braves, however they do have some ridiculous pitching, but would they have to burn Medlen in the wild card game?
I'm not really scared of S.F., we hit Cain pretty hard last time we faced them and Timmy struggled last night. Also no Melky... I really just don't want to play the Cards again. With Carpenter back and Wainwright pitching well I just don't like the matchup. They seem to rock our starters.

Personally...I want the CArds.
However, for us to play the Cards, the Cardinals would have to do the following: 1. Win the #2 wildcard 2. Win the wildcard game against the Braves 3. Win their divisional round by knocking off the Nats (guaranteed at this point) And the Redlegs would then have to: 1. Beat San Francisco So, it's feasible, but it takes a lot of twists and turns for that to happen. Keep in mind that while they have a sizable lead (4.5 game lead with 8 games to go for LAD & MIL and 7 for STL) that will take an epic collapse for them to forfeit. So, the Reds will have to beat them down next week after Washington beats them up and either the Dodgers or Brewers would have to win just about every game. In short...The seeding is pretty much finalized except for 1-2. So, the Cards can really help the Reds if they do damage against the Nats, clinch and then rest some guys up for postseason play. Personally, I am torn because I really want them to just not be on my TV in October... But at the same time, I want to see the Redlegs destroy them and their championship dreams.

They better be...The Tigers are a much more talented roster than Chicago and may be peaking at the right time (versus last year) to make a legit WS run...

Not this late in the season. The Cubs and Pirates (I think) waited over 3hrs last week. And when Tom Browning threw his perfect game, there was an almost 3hr rain delay. The game got started just before 10pm.

It's always up to the managers to agree on whether to postpone it or continue to wait it out. They take official reports of the weather. It takes at least 5 innings to officially call it a game.
They seem to be in the clear right now. Also...WTF Paul??

I have been to your stadium or outside of it. Looked inside from the outside, beautiful ballpark just like your city. I love Cincinatti.

Unbelievable win by the Reds!! down to their last out Frazier homers to deep center (first homerun since Aug 21st) then Bruce singles and then Navarro fouls off 2 homeruns but eventually belted a shot to the gap and Bruce scores from first on it!!

What a win by the Redlegs! Put the opposition on notice: You must get 27 outs to win a baseball game.

Hecks yeah man! Cincinnati and Pittsburgh are a lot alike. You should check out Pittsburgh sometime. It is really beautiful, especially at night. However, don't go to a Steelers game, you might get bitten and become a zombie! Other than that, enjoy the city!
