Default If we could bring back Josh Hamilton next year...would you?

Thanks to a a big slump to end this season and his ongoing battle to avoid substance abuse, I'm guessing that Hamilton can be had at a good value. Would you bring him back? Him and Votto at the center of our lineup would be pretty amazing.

No.

He isn't worth the headache that he brings to the table.

You would want to deal with the drinking issues? lackluster concentration in the outfield?

Yea, dude's a beast, especially if it could like a four or five year deal, yes, all day yes. If it had to be one of those ten year things, not so much.

I love the guy, but he was actually not well liked in the clubhouse when he was here. And he's going to be making at least $18-20 million a year for 5+ seasons which means he is way out of our price range.

No

- he's gonna be getting a long term deal
- he's probably gonna get a 9 figure deal
- there's only room for 1 Hamilton: Billy Hamilton is being groomed for Center Field now

dude is also a stiff breeze away from another injury.
He misses far too much time for varying injuries.
Factor in his potential relapses...do not want

Yea, very strong case to be made against it. If it's too much money, then no for sure. Cuz you know the Yankees are his catch all. If the rest of the league hesitates, they'll blow the money they have that no one else does. Them or the Red Sox I would imagine.

Going to the Red Sox's wouldn't be good for his health.

He wasn't liked by Dunn or Griffey because he took time with the fans unlike them.

I think he is a really good player and a great hitter, but the one thing that would make me hesitate signing him at any price is that he doesnt gel well in the clubhouse.
How many times did we hear the Reds players talking about how close this team is in the clubhouse this year? Many times. I think clubhouse chemistry is one of the most important parts of winning championships, especially on a small market team.

Oh yeah. Thanks for reminding me. Those guys thought they were kings of the clubhouse didn't they? Brought in a couch and everything. I somehow doubt Hamilton was the problem.

We spent so much money on Phillips and Votto, I can't imagine them spending more money this off season.

I wouldn't, honestly.

He's a liability.

He throws up good numbers, sure. But he's a distraction and wasn't liked in the clubhouse.

I'm sayin', if on a five years or less deal, I'd prolly go ahead and do it. How bad for chemistry can he possibly be? Rolen would just slap him around a lil and everything would be fine.

Rolen won't be here next season. And again, the majority of the players in the locker room didn't like him while he was here; why would that change now? Regardless, he's way, way, way out of our price range so the question is moot anyway.

He wasn't liked because he needed a 24/7 babysitter and expected everyone to change around him. No alcohol. No partying etc.

He was viewed as spoiled and it rubbed more than Jr and Dunn the wrong way.

That's not true. Dunn and Griffey did't like him. Two people are not the majority

They will spend enough to keep Ludwick and extend most of our arby guys and probably add a bench player or two with Cairo and Valdez being on the way out.

Half the locker room was rubbed wrong by how he needed to be coddled by management.

Brandon Phillips was another one I have heard didn't like him.
