Both of them are. He did a Comedy Central special, then the other one. I absolutely love him. He's a pretty solid actor on Community, he wrote for a long time on 30 Rock, stand up comedy and now rapper. Talk about multi-talented.

J.Cole is dope. Go listen to Rise and Shine.
Also there is an up and coming rapper called J.Capri that remade that song. He's pretty good as well. http://www.mixtapes.tv/wp-content/pl...18&start=21983

Thank you. I like what I write, I've written stuff I like a lot better than that, but I hate how I sound, I really do lack rhythm. My buddy still makes music all the time, he's awesome. The stuff he makes now is amazing, I'll post some if he ever gets around to uploading some songs online.

Killin the game in 2012 just call me a mayan,
collecting dollars like Bill gates and yen like Lee Kong Chian, on the mic I'm a beast but in the streets I'm a terror, disagree and get a blood stain on the side of your new era, Wait I don't rap about violence I'm a funny guy hardy har har, Now tell Lippy the Lion to get his a** back in the car, I got a get rich quick scheme and this ones sure to work, Grab the mic and go beserk like a mail clerk with a knee jerk, reaction head scratching head bobbin head ringing, i'm bringing heat to the street in the heat of the night, Hit you with the HARUKEN like its a street fight. That sounded better in my head

Ballin' just to raise our budgets when in reality we struggling
Now everyone tryna be rappers think they on or upcoming It's that moment when you can't apperciate the complexity Let it settle your missing the point like a broken needle I express extensively Those twitter accounts that have people sayin' they spitters When we really know you just small time you need a transmitter Go ahead and tell middle class america how you the best rapper You steal beats and flows it's all cool though still no subject matter Closer to my dreams, as far death will let you reach Even the preacher second guesses his speech With enough patience I could do what you call amazing I could make the world spin for you no daylight saving Told you I could be the man of the year in an hour Make the sun fall for you, let the stars give you a meteor shower Back to the topic change of pace my flow I gotta regain Make you think twice saying f*** it my swag you can't obtain Now I know it eats you alive that I flow better than Lil Wayne Way people look up to this fake, you'd think his name is Hussein I see that look cause they like d*** he's snapping! Everything I say I have followers go ahead call it spirit rapping Go ahead say f*** em 1 time I told em I accept to be the exception That's why peoples standards higher than you i'm the perception Feedback or criticism would be appreciated.

For example, I can't tell you how many times I'd have written something like this.... "It's that moment when you can't appreciate the complexity Let it settle your missing the point like a broken needle I express extensively" Then in order to be able to say it on beat it would end up more like this..... "You can't appreciate complexity Ya broken needles miss points I express extensively"

That is actually my problem is staying on beat when I do rap, when I right from now on I'll have to keep that in mind. Thank you.

It's cool, especially for so quick. Not really a critique but what I told OB is just like my main issue when I used to record stuff....to hit your snares, ya end up having to cut a lot of words out and fragment the krap outta your sentences. But then it all depends on your style too, and your own individual ability and everything. So you and him might not have the same problem as my no rhythm havin' a** and may not necessarily have to edit your lines as much.
Oh, and write to a beat, if you have the beat you're gonna put vocals on, perfect, if not, just write to a basic beat. If when you compose it, you're already constructing it around the beat, it will be easier to put the vocals on later. Here's another one from the late 90's lol.....better than the first one I posted I think.NSFW http://www.soundclick.com/player/sin...&q=hi&newref=1

I'm the opposite, I think some of the old hip hop doesn't stand the test of time and sounds corny. You can't just blindly click on a present artist, you have to know who to look for.f The 90's took hiphop/rap to another level. Then the 2000's came and the rap was awful(of course there was some good, mostly bad) Everybody made up a dance first, and then a song around it. I said back when Kanye West first came on the scene that he was a savior for hip hop and people questioned that. I still believe that to this day. The back pack boys that think its only good if its underground may disagree, but their opinions are based on hate and being a fan boy...or backpacky. That leads me to Kanye's new single, White Dress. Grown and sexy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRZBAvstyxA

Not sure JayZ gets his due as one of the best rappers ever either, which he should. He has a large/overwhelming catalog, so if youre a hater or just haven't given him a chance then it could be tough to know what to listen to first.
His first album from 1996 is a good start. "Reasonable Doubt". Why is it classic? Because it stands the test of time. Biggie and Pac are dead, now here comes Jay. First album of 11...not counting mixtapes or collaborations with RKelly, or Watch the throne. Jay Z and Kayne West both do not get their dues because of the amount you see them. Both are great actual writers and rappers. Kanye has an annoying mouth on him and Jay Z is everywhere.

People see Jay Z now as a guy who's latest songs are on car commercials and for the song New York which will keep his family rich for generations. Jay Z has skills to put him at the top of the lyricist list, but you have to go back to his early stuff to witness the skill. Quote:
