My biggest wish is that we fire Marvin Lewis after the season no matter what, it's this teams only chance at winning. Your team won't strive to win when the man in charge of the team is careless and boring & doesn't mind losing.
No, I'd rather see Andy Reid and Marvin Lewis get fired this off season and then we go and get Reid. Rex Ryan, yuck, I'm good. I dont' want anything to do with him.

Rex Ryan would not be above coaching here cuz he'll be doing another DC stint after they get tired of him in NY.

Only 32 jobs and a bunch of dudes who want them, the Bengals have as good of a shot at getting any of the marquee coaches as any other team. Offer them a good contract and they would come here, simple as that.

The going logic that no good coach would come here is ludicrous. Maybe a couple here and there, but for the most part, the Bengals can get who they want.

Unfortunately, who MB wants is Lewis. He's good enough to go .500, but not good enough that he's going to force MB to have to foot the bill for too many road playoff games.

People need to open their minds a bit. I think Rex is a good coach. It's not his fault he's been tethered to Mark Sanchez and Santonio "cancer" Holmes. Even with Sanchez, he still took the Jets to consecutive AFC title games. That's better than anything Marv has done.

He's also passionate about coaching and players love him. As I said in another thread, I would prefer an Andy Reid, Jon Gruden or the Chin, but I wouldn't complain if we landed Rex. He's also very familiar with our division.

Maybe I don't keep up with the Jets enough but I've never seen where Ryan said "Man, I wish I had someone besides Sanchez and Holmes."

I'd pass on Ryan. Ryan seems a lot like Marvin in regard to talent— he tries to make it fit what he wants to do. That's been part of the problem here. Instead of building around the strengths, we build around what someone wants the strengths to be.

I'm pretty sure Rex didn't make the call to draft Sanchez. When an owner or GM makes the call to draft a QB that high, there's usually a lot of pressure on the coach to make it work. Still, the playoff success is there. People hate Rex because of his mouth (and for kicking our butt in the playoffs), but there's no way you can argue he's done a bad job in NY.

If you recall the Bengals didnt get alot of interest for the head coaching when we landed Marvin Lewis. We may get more interest now since we are farther removed from the 90's though and on paper we have a pretty good team.

I love how people just love to instantly say no to any free agent/trade/new head coach. I guess people think it makes them sound smart to blow off every idea as nonsense. To everyone saying no to Rex Ryan, who do you think would realistically be a good choice for head coach?

You've got to be kidding. The Jets fans have been ripping Ryan to shreds because he plays too conservative and plays "not to lose" instead of "playing to win".

Sounds awfully familiar.....These guys get complacent over time thinking we will be happy winning 7 or 8 games a year......they need a MESSAGE that a so/so season is not acceptable at any time.......yes 7 wins is better then 4 or 2 but 7 or 8 is not enough to stop looking for someone else.

Marvin signed an extension, and no matter what happens, he will coach the Bengals through the duration of the contract.

Exactly. People don't seem to realize what's going on with them this season.
-Missing #1 WR
-Below average QB that seems to be regressing.
-Lost Revis for the season.
-New offensive coordinator.

Before this season though, he was 28-20 as a HC, winning 4 playoff games, and making it to the AFCC as a Wild Card.

His credentials cannot be discounted. People may not like his personality, but more often that not, he gets results.

I voted Yes!

1.) I think he has learned a LOT since he first got the job. His first two years, he wouldnt keep his mouth shut and guaranteed everything. I think he has learned his lesson and quieted down a bit this year. He has made a fool of himself in the Big Market of NY, I think he could do a lot better with a fresh new team, especially in a much smaller market of Cincy. No one would care about him here. I think he would do great to be honest with you.

2.) I think he is a MUCH BETTER coach then Marvin. He may not be a motivational guy like Marvin, but lets be honest, the motivational side of Marvin has gotten us no where. Rex is a much better game manager then Marvin and I think we can all agree on that.

3.) Rex does not have near the talent that we do. Sanchez and Tebow have created a circus that has backfired in his face. No wide recievers now that Holmes is hurt. No defense with Revis Island being out. He has nothing. We have all the pieces for him to succeed here. New QB, WR, CB. He could address some needs in the draft and he would be set. He got to the AFC Championship twice if I am not mistaken. Dont quote me on that but I think it was twice.

I think it is pretty clear that Marvin needs to move on. This city has completely lost faith in him and you can see that from the boards as well as walking through the city. I went to Mt. Adams the other night and sparked a conversation with a big group and we got stuck on the bengals and everyone was screaming for him to be gone. Small sample size, but is there anyone on these boards that wants Marvin to stay? Its pretty clear what needs to be done. I think Rex could do well here. He has just been put on BLAST in NY. He is failing with his talentless team and they are digging his grave with the media. He needs a change of scenery and we need a new head coach.

Okay, I get that and wish that would work. Unfortunately, Mike Brown has built an unshakeable ivory tower built on a stadium lease and revenue sharing. He will always get his money, and any move to get out of the quagmire of Marvin Lewis's mediocrity would require Mike to have a scrooge like reversal in character.

We need someone like an Andy Reid to come in and demand instant respect and authority from Mike.

No Rex Ryan has turned the Jets into a Circus.

But at this point im willing to take anyone over Marvin. Its not that i think marvin is a terrible coach its just hes had shot after shot and each year he seems softer than the last.

Time for some Fresh Determination in here.

I like to see Bill Cowher coaching bengals, but I don't think we will never see any of them coaching for mike Brown.
Cowher - If he came back I would love for him to prove he is the reason the Tomlin looks good.

Jon Gruden - All day a brother combo on the same team leading the way to greatness I think it would be the first time in NFL history you had a head coach and OC that were brothers.

Billick - won't come back he has retired.

Dungy - I will pass.

Oh and any Ryan can stay away from Cincinnati they are a cancer to the league and suspect coaches.

I'd take Rex in a heartbeat.

He has won in the circus that is NY where, according to the media, you can't do anything right.

Even wins are criticized, the pressure must be tremendous.

His teams the last 2 years have been crippled by the salary cap and its showing up on the field in terms of depth.

He has fire and swagger and would bring an attitude to Cincy that hasn't been here since Sam Wynche.

Has he had a losing record in NY yet?
