It was Mike Carey. I get nervous whenever he officiates a game to this day. I wont be nervous now. Im too dejected after our horrible losing streak to really put my heart into this team any more this season.

He actually came into that game replacing JaMarcus Russell. He also filled in for Ken Dorsey during our 2nd Cleveland game in 08.

Again you are the historian of the Cincinnati Bengals. I do not remember the detail of this middle part of the 2006 but the echo of my scream is still reverberating in my brother's basement after the missed extra point in Game 15. Kick in the *******....yes...well said! |

Justin Smith's phantom roughing the passer.....still makes my blood boil.

Yeah, the team that went from 8-5 to sitting home for the holidays...losing it's last 3 to end the season. I remember that team.

In 06 we had the botched XP at Denver, blew a 21 point lead at home to the Chargers, Dave Pollack's career ended at home vs Cleveland, then there was the phantom roughing the QB call at Tampa Bay. So yes, I too would rather forget 2006.

2006 ended with a thud, but I don't think I've ever been as excited before a season as I was in 2006. It really sukks that we couldn't win a playoff game with Carson, Chad, Housh, Rudi, Willie, Simmons, Deltha and Justin Smith. So much talent but just couldn't pull it together.

He was a late season addition to the Browns in December of '08. Only game started was the season finale against the Steelers. Was waived by the Browns in Feb of '09. Pretty sure that Grad was still with the Bucs in '06.

Simmons was solid, but we lost Odell and Pollack early on. Had no viable replacements for them.

Same here. I still have my Thurman jersey and Pollack was one of the best college players of all time. Talk about bad luck. That 2005 draft class had so much promise.

The great 4-game stretch you talked about was sparked by Carson and Chad going on a tear ... 26 catches, 505 yards for Chad over those 4 games (if you count the loss to San Diego prior to the 4-game win streak it was 37 catches for 765 yards in 5 games!) Hopefully Andy-to-AJ gets on that kind of roll. The ref acknowledged after the game that unnecessary roughness was what he meant to call ... doesn't make any difference to the penalty that's enforced. |

The Cleveland massacre... That game took out everyone. 06 hurt. No pun intended.

Only to lose the last three games of the season and putting themselves out of the playoffs keeping their streak alive of not having back to back winning seasons. The following year they continued to diminish at 7-9 and topped it all off in 08 with an impressive 90's rendition record of 4-11-1. WHO-DEY!!!!!! |

I do not like to refer to the past because this is a different team with different players.

Re: Remeber the mid season run in '06?
That's what I was about to say when I read the OP. I don't think I really want to compare this season to 2006. That just sounds like bad juju.

Lol. No, that ship has sailed. The last time I gave Odell serious though was 2008. He'd probably be better than Rey even now though...

Re: Remeber the mid season run in '06?
Sure sure... you know you secretly want Brandon Joiner/Odell Thurman/Vontaze Burfict as the Bengals' starting linebackers. Talk about instilling fear into the other team... literally. Haha
