Default "Met" Maualuga & T. Newman last night

My wife and I came up for the game this weekend. Her favorite restaurant in the world is Nada downtown, so we go there every year when we come up for a game.

When we were walking in, Maualuga and Newman were walking down the stairs to leave. I didn't want to bother them, but told Maualuga "nice effort today" and told Newman "hell of a game buddy." Maualuga was either way out of it due to the loss, or drunk (more likely scenario I think). He just looked at me with this blank stare and said thanks. Newman seemed genuinely happy about receiving the compliment and said "hey, I appreciate that man. Thanks for watching." and patted me on the back when he walked by.

There were several other players upstairs that we eventually saw leave...Dalton, Zeitler, Miles, Robinson, Sanu are the ones that come to mind.

Anyway, don't know that my story has a real point. Just wanted to share and say Newman seemed like a cool dude.

Rey I think is incredibly anti-social, and when he DOES get social, bad things happen lol.

What are the chances the 2 most hated players on D are hanging together?

That has been the track record, dating back to 2005

USC football player arrested after off-campus altercation

USC Linebacker Booked on Suspicion of Battery

Maybe these are the real reasons he dropped in the draft. Or maybe other teams knew more than we did about how occasional flashes of dynamite don't necessarily mean anything.

good stuff. I hate on Newman more than anyone else, but even I like it when players are appreciative of fan feedback when they don't have to be.

Based on everything I've heard from out him, and when I saw him, he's very introverted. During the thing at the Fatburger a few years ago, he was nice, but just wanted to kind of be chill.

Mhm, highly introverted.

Even on HK, he didn't say much.

Didn't seem too introverted with Erin Andrews:

Maualuga was actually moonlighting at Nada as a valet.

The chick he was with that night lives down the street from me. Useless information, I know.

What a great quality for a middle linebacker to have.

And yet Marvin calls him out for not being the fiery leader of the D. I guess it's a perfect example of Marvin not playing to his team's strengths.

I know a couple people that know Rey and have talked to him on a few occasions and apparently he doesn't like when people come up to him randomly. I'm also guessing he thought you were probably being sarcastic with that compliment

Pretty cool story though, Newman does seem like a cool guy

Yeah that would've been awesome! Because the Bengals have so much depth at linebacker!
