Yep, but the organization was voted the best. IMO I think the Packers should hold that spot.

PI needs to a reviewable play.. Theres no question about it. I dont see it really possible to review every single PI call, but maybe a rule where calls that put a team in scoring position should be reviewed.

Any PI that moves a team 25 or more yards or that results in the ball being spotted in the redzone gets reviewed.

Why not just make it a 10 or 15 yard penalty instead of placing the ball at the spot where the PI called. Reviewing those plays would just make the game longer.

I'm fine with it being spot of foul, let's just make sure it was a foul...Also Blow to the head should be reviewable as well.

The problem with moving it to the spot of the foul can change the outcome and momentum of the game. We have seen that too many times.

I agree with this, the NFL should go with the college rule on it. A 15 yard penalty is more than enough, especially when most PI calls you see, it wouldn't have made a difference anyway, the ball wasn't going to be caught.

Or else on offensive PI, take the distance from scrimmage to the spot of the foul, and set the offense back that many yards.

It is an incredibly rare moment when a hold is called and it wasn't...Quite often it is usually missed and not called.

Here is a good example of why moving the ball to the spot of the foul, that makes it wrong.
Let's say the ball is on the 40 yard line. Then you get a roughing the passer called against the defense. It is a 15 yd penalty that moves the ball to the 25 yd line.

Now let's say a receiver goes deep into the end zone and gets a PI call. The ball is then placed at the one yard line.

How is that fair? I think roughing the QB is worse than a PI, well sometimes it is just as bad but not usually.

And to say just don't do it, doesn't wash either. The game is fast and these guys are competitors, it's bound to happen.

How does your post have anything to do with mine?

I'm also going to go out on a limb and bet that there have been higher incidents of receivers being injured and suffering greater injuries due to early hits than QB and roughing the passer.

That being said you make very valid points however again I will say that I have no issue with the penalty and enforcement currently in the NFL...I just want the call to be correct.

I think the big problem with getting it correct is that it is more a judgement call than anything else. You know what would be interesting? To see how many elite QB's get PI's compared to the other QB's.

Not if it's reviewed. As with all reviews if there is not substatial evidence to reverse the call then the call on the field stands.

The games already last 3 plus hours, you start reviewing PI calls you could end up with a 4 hour game.

But a PI review itself would be quick and easy, pretty straightforward. No mass of bodies like in a fumble or a goal line scoring situation.
