Jay z is dope, kanye is a good producer, kanyes rapping is overrated. Jay z is one of the few mainstream music I like. I know I sound like a broken record but yall need to check as pathy hes extremely dope.

Other than early Kanye, lupe and chiddy bang (yes feel free to laugh at me, but I enjoy them a lot) I really never liked much of anything that came from the newer guys over the past 6-8 years. I was almost to the point that I was just getting old (I'm 27 fwiw) and chalking it up to me probably being that guy I never wanted to be when I was a kid who said "music was so much better back when" and was really just identifying too much with the music that came out in someone's formative years.

Then I met Kendrick Lamar. I don't feel old anymore. OD was solid, Section 80 was elite, and after putting good kid m.a.a.d. city on repeat I'm convinced he's gonna go down as one of the top 10 rappers of all time when all is said and done. I just can't remember the last time in consecutive albums that a rapper put together that many songs with that much depth, lyricism with his metaphors and word play, introspective analysis, unique beats, that all of his music just takes me to another place.

God I love this album. Please go buy it. You won't regret it. I promise.


Also, someone said earlier ITT that they just weren't feeling him or that his delivery wasn't of the same ilk as Pac. I get how someone might have that view pending on which songs they listened to bc he switches things up so much from song to song with his volume and delivery. Pac imo, seemed to have just kinda 2 levels of energy where he was either heartfelt in the keep ya head up, dear mama, I aint mad at cha types and then his Hyped up High energy ones like I get around, Me against the world, Cali Love Who Shot ya etc.

If you wanna hear the passion in Kendrick's voice and just listen to him go hard as hell in a hyped song that builds from the beginning to the end check this older one out. My cat turns into a lion when I put this on.

Im in my 30s and feel the same. Definitely top 10, probably higher since he should be around for a while. West coast is up for grabs.

I don't like it for the whole song. Only reason is that it makes a couple verses hard to understand with the echo of a certain word running into the start of another. I think it's cool with the chorus and maybe use it as his conscious talking to him type of voice. IDK man...just 2 cents from a guy that has zero clue about mixing and the technical stuff.

It's a cool/chill song. The girl on the cover is sexy as f...

Yea, I have no clue about music either....I can lay some decent vocals once in a while if I mess around and hit my snares. But that's it. I like my dude's stuff cuz he still samples, he makes that with an eight track recorder, sampler, drum machine and turntable.....His cuts are ridiculous.

I keep bugging him to upload the song we just made. First time I've made one in forever, but music is all he does. I can't believe how much of a gem we messed around and made, at least imo. Hopefully, he'll upload it later tonight.
