Anyone seen Kendrick's old impersonation of Wiz? Just spot on and love kdot
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRv4U1TUynY

Other than early Kanye, lupe and chiddy bang (yes feel free to laugh at me, but I enjoy them a lot) I really never liked much of anything that came from the newer guys over the past 6-8 years. I was almost to the point that I was just getting old (I'm 27 fwiw) and chalking it up to me probably being that guy I never wanted to be when I was a kid who said "music was so much better back when" and was really just identifying too much with the music that came out in someone's formative years.

Then I met Kendrick Lamar. I don't feel old anymore. OD was solid, Section 80 was elite, and after putting good kid m.a.a.d. city on repeat I'm convinced he's gonna go down as one of the top 10 rappers of all time when all is said and done. I just can't remember the last time in consecutive albums that a rapper put together that many songs with that much depth, lyricism with his metaphors and word play, introspective analysis, unique beats, that all of his music just takes me to another place.

God I love this album. Please go buy it. You won't regret it. I promise.

Also, someone said earlier ITT that they just weren't feeling him or that his delivery wasn't of the same ilk as Pac. I get how someone might have that view pending on which songs they listened to bc he switches things up so much from song to song with his volume and delivery. Pac imo, seemed to have just kinda 2 levels of energy where he was either heartfelt in the keep ya head up, dear mama, I aint mad at cha types and then his Hyped up High energy ones like I get around, Me against the world, Cali Love Who Shot ya etc.

If you wanna hear the passion in Kendrick's voice and just listen to him go hard as hell in a hyped song that builds from the beginning to the end check this older one out. My cat turns into a lion when I put this on.

Im in my 30s and feel the same. Definitely top 10, probably higher since he should be around for a while. West coast is up for grabs.

This is true. One of the few you can just let play front to back while maybe repeating your favorites on the way.
The day after it dropped a couple remixes featuring Absoul, Q, and Jrock.

The Recipe Remix http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qz55lQzsoME

Swimming Pools Remix http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2ybjS2BJaU

The Heart Pt3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUPVRcQTfLc

Here's a brand new one that Kendrick released yesterday produced by JCole...sick. Strong song for a dude that just released an album a week ago. Its a response to Shyne dissing him.

I actually made a song for the first time in a long time. When it gets uploaded I'll post it....My god man, it's a banger dude.

And oh yea, he like the echo effect, I think it's cool. You don't the echo on the vocals eh?

I don't like it for the whole song. Only reason is that it makes a couple verses hard to understand with the echo of a certain word running into the start of another. I think it's cool with the chorus and maybe use it as his conscious talking to him type of voice. IDK man...just 2 cents from a guy that has zero clue about mixing and the technical stuff.

It's a cool/chill song. The girl on the cover is sexy as f...

Yea, I have no clue about music either....I can lay some decent vocals once in a while if I mess around and hit my snares. But that's it. I like my dude's stuff cuz he still samples, he makes that with an eight track recorder, sampler, drum machine and turntable.....His cuts are ridiculous.

I keep bugging him to upload the song we just made. First time I've made one in forever, but music is all he does. I can't believe how much of a gem we messed around and made, at least imo. Hopefully, he'll upload it later tonight.

One night stands, no best man
No bridesmaids, or reverends
Cause Wolverine's depressin', don't wanna be your ex man
Cause cupid aims and throw the darts
There go the sparks and broken hearts
Who wanna build Noah's Ark
Just to have that s*** torn apart

- J. Cole - Never Told

So hard to get a glimpse, so while Iím here I might take a pic
And show Ďem that itís more to the world than tryna make a living
Like changing it then looking back and saying that we did it
Okay, como me llamo
She say Ingles, no hablo, man unless itís eat me out though
Benihani, my McDonald, all black leather jackets
While I ride in my Diablo, swear I feel like Iím Keanu

- Big Sean - Higher

Seems lifeís never at a stand still, even in a photo
Thinking about an the ex girl, I hold though
Like would we have won it all, or would I have lost it all like Ocho
The things I think about the most are things I never know though

- Big Sean - 24k of Gold

Random lines I like.

Fabolous..Soul Tape 2

haven't listened to it, but features include some of my favorite dudes in rap....Wale, JCole, PushaT, Joe Budden, Trey Songz. Fabolous always puts a nice tape together....never drops albums though.

Been a while...some good **** has came out since my last post. Soul tape 2 is a must download...could've been an album. Opening track:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPSbi0DIbMI

Wales dropped the folarin mixtape. Has about 20 songs, I loved 11 of them which is acceptable for a mixtape. The good songs far outweigh the bad imo.

A$AP Rocky also dropped an album and it definitely has some tracks worth buying.

1train feat. Kendrick Lamar, joey Bada$$, yelawolf, Danny brown, action Bronson, big krit. All dudes worth checking out...especially this joey badassness..he's a youngin Http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEX4o-Ww888

Phoenix http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXCoY6ni7A0

Can definitely hear the houston Memphis and bone thugs influence with rocky.

Another guy worth checking out is Cassie Veggies. He dropped a new mixtape this week that I downloaded and have yet to listen too, BUT if it's anything like his last mixtape then it's going to be great.

It's been a while.

A lot of names dropped albums this year, only a few went strong. First off Grammy noms are also joke.

Macklemore should not be up for best album over a single song that is carried by the beat. I'm not going to lie, I didn't even listen to Drakes album so I can't judge that. A lot if snubs for best song of the year. F'n Problem nominated for best compilation isn't the best on the album. 1Train by ASAPRocky shoulda have been the nomination. Kanyes album was weak as was JColes. IMO ASAPRocky and Kendrick were only ones to leave a mark this year as far as official albums go. Pusha Ts was nice but he doesn't get his due.

Speaking of Kendrick he challenged the rap game with his control verse http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkZZo0XSm5s

Some challengers and call outs, I'll fill the gaps later. Some took it wrong and thought it was personal.

Fab dropped The Soul tape 3 today. His take on Kendrick verse: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02GkIVasPko
