Texas wanting to secede U.S ?

Looks like the Obama administration may have to respond to a petition seeking the green light for Texas to secede from the United States—one of 20 such requests filed on the official White House website since Election Day.

At the time of the writing of this post, the Texas secession petition had garnered 25,318 signatures—above the White House's self-imposed rules for requiring a reply.

Other secession petitions include requests for Arkansas, South Carolina, Georgia, Missouri, Tennessee, Michigan, Colorado, Oregon, New Jersey, North Dakota, Montana, Indiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, North Carolina, Alabama and New York.

Citizen petitions don't count, now if the Govenor starts talking like that, then you have to worry.

I know a lot of people think, "Who Cares? Let them leave". Now ask yourself, which states would follow?

Notice that Hawaii and Alaska aren't on the petition. Alaska is pretty much Canada, and Hawaii might as well be seceded anyways.

Why should what citizens have to say be held in such low regard? Very off putting for a citizen like yourself to care not what other citizens have to say but you would perk right up and give it some due respect if some greaseball governor were saying the same thing.

Hmm, I don't know about Texas, even though I heard some stuff. But here in Austria, many citizens are just clueless fools. - Now that doesn't make their opinion worthless or denies them the right to express it - that's democracy - but that doesn't mean you have to take all opinions seriously...

25.318 people are 0,1% of Texas' population. No need to call an emergency meeting about that.

Texas has been wanting to succeed forever. There are plenty of people there that call it the Republic of Texas. This is not new.

Texas seceding SHOULD have happened a long time ago. I've spent a lot of time there, and the culture is completely different. They don't care nearly as much about the nation as they do about Texas, which I consider a good thing. Care about what you might actually be able to make an impact on, rather than the entire country. If states had individual rights to make their own decisions without the government deciding that they're wrong, this may not happen. The government needs less power.

Oh well.
