So...... saying "You're toast" after 8 games is not the same as saying the season is over?

No, it's not, the season not actually being over goes without saying, there are still games to be played. Just like it goes without saying that we haven't been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention yet, but it's def a long shot even after the Giants win.

Still, at 3-5 and with all the issues and losing to bad teams, predictions of not making the post season at that point are not ill founded.

I think you're spot on here.

This team is not capable of going 6-1 the rest of the way. The better teams of handled them with ease, and they've shown they're all too capable of playing down to teams like Cleveland and Miami.

That's the only semi-realistic way we reach the playoffs, as the Colts and Steelers have all the tiebreakers against us thanks to our 2-5 AFC record. The only other option is to go 10-6 and I don't see that happening.

Basically, our chances at the playoffs this year are slim to none. I predict we finish 8-8. The question is how will this team fare in 2013? It seems like we're only a few players away, but how many years have we been saying that? How many chances does Marv get?

What do the Giants have to say?

They're capable of going to the Superbowl, virtually every team in the hunt is capable of that.

Stop it.

The Giants are playing like a below average team right now, they're certainly not playing in their Super Bowl surge mode.

The Bengals will be lucky to win in KC this week.

With that being said im not looking past the Chiefs with the way they kept the Steelers close in Pittsburgh.
If we lose in the playoffs, then that means Marvin will have put together back to back winning seasons for the first time in some 20+ years for the Bengals. His return would be assured. Realistically, even if the Bengals miss the playoffs at 9-7,he still put together back to back winning seasons and his return is assured.

IMO,the Giants are down now because of the massive distraction of the hurricane. Still, hopefully that W will break that psychological glass ceiling that hangs over this club and continually causes them to underachieve. It's possible they can put a run together, but they have to prove it on the field.

Has nothing to do with the hurricane.
Has everything to do with the NYG doing their typical slump in November. They will pick it up in December enough to make the playoffs. They have done this in November the last few years.

If I am able to keep track of of the double negatives, I agree. The Bengals need to prove, as the first step on what will be an Odyssey, that they can beat Kansas City.

Eli Manning is not playing well lately, but the Giants are still 6-4.

During those 8 seasons, we've had several starting RBs, different starters on the o-line, different TEs and FBs and 2 different RB coaches. Only our o-line coach remained the same.

I can't believe you don't know how to not keep track of those.

I sure hope they are.

These three wins are nice, but now the need to focus on going to San Diego and taking care of business. Make it four in a row. No excuses. Find a way to win.

We should mudhole stomp San Diego, west coast road trips are hard but I think our defense can smack the Chargers around if they keep getting after it like they have been.

two winning seasons in a row.
