Explain to me where we would play your #1 pick. I have a hard time using a first rounder on a guy that will be sitting on the bench his first year.

A WR in round 2? Maybe if one of the top 2 or 3 guys fell that far, but I think there are a bunch of needs that would come before drafting a WR at this point.

I like the Reid pick, but I don't know if he will be there that late.

The rest of the picks are good, but I would be pretty disappointed if we waited until the 4th round to address our 2 biggest needs - LB and RB.

Williams depends on what happens with Sanu and Jones the rest of the way.

I will be shocked if Reid lasts that long.

I don't think we will lose both. If we can't get Andre signed it would not surprise me at all if we tag him. I don't want to lose MJ, but given our recent draft history I think we could replace him with one of our 2nd round picks.

Then again, plenty of people have us taking a DE in 1 anyway.

I think there is a strong chance we let Andre walk which I wouldn't be opposed to. When has he lived up to the billing of a 6th overall pick $$$. Yes he has been just ok the past year but at no point dominate. One dimensional run blocker and a so so pass protector. We had the option to pick up the extention and declined so this isn't by any means an off the rocker pick. Do you honestly think MB pays this guy franchise tag money he isnt even a top 10 RT in my opinion. He would be a probowl caliber guard and thats been my take awhile now. This has been his first year truly healthy and he still doesnt jump off the screen even in a contract year. Maybe his ceiling has been reached at RT.

People don't understand it might be harder to retain Andre Smith than they realize. He will want money first. Second he might want to go somewhere to play LEFT tackle because if he signs somewhere to do that in a couple years he can get MORE money.

He's been good in run blocking, but I don't think he's been good enough in pass blocking to play left tackle and he knows that. Furthermore, I don't think teams will trust the small sample size they've seen to throw enough money at him to draw him away.

Second, we'll have to hit a salary floor, and everybody knows that, first and foremost, Mike always focuses on our own free agents. It could change since he seems to have given up control, which comes from his own words.

You're seriously underestimating the need for good tackles. Even if he doesn't cut it at first at left tackle he can still be moved back to the right side and at least he got his try.

That is a terrible idea. Why the hell would you pay that much for a RT?
Most of the top RT the NFL make around 7 million yearly.

He played LT in the SEC and was dominant. He was widely considered the #1 guy in the entire draft until his suspension late in the season. And so far career-wise (NFL) he has been better at pass blocking than run blocking. If he lost another 15 to 20 pounds I think he could be a very good LT.

That was also before he put on a lot of weight and almost fell off draft boards.

He may have lost a lot of it, but who's to say he still has all of the skills from when he was in his prime shape?

I think he's been a better run blocker, but I could be wrong.
