No, I want a stud CB, not a depth CB.

Better question, who do you bench?

Hall/Dre Kirk/Pacman/"Stud CB"/Allen (if he exists)

I have seen the Bengals play 3 CBs. Have the Bengals ever played 4 CBs on the field at the same time?

It just seems silly to me to "bench" Hall or Dre Kirk or Pacman to give a "stud CB" snaps.

Especially, when the Bengals could add a "stud" at DE or MIKE or SAM or SS.

I think for offense RB/WR are the top of the list.

For Defense Safety/CB.

I be cool with either 4 of these for the first round pick even second.

If it were me, i go RB on our early second round pick. I would be happy to use the first on a WR (Unless we find out M. Jones is that guy). I don't want to waste a WR on anything past round 2. I don't think he'll be any better than the guys we have on roster right now.

I be cool with Safety or CB with the first pick too. I love to have a full time starter Safety and i rather go young than old. For CB we got a lot of guys leaving.

Hall is a lock, Dre too. Jason Allen is still under contract but we don't know if we'll keep him since he makes $4 mill a year. Don't forget Ghee. I hope we resign Pacman if we do, then we are ok at CB if everyone stays healthy that is.

So for me, i go WR or Safety with the first. Actually i would go 1) WR 2) RB 2) Safety

Easy answer. The weakest part of our team is up the middle.

C
DL
RB
Lb
SS.

You can bench any of them. They're all pretty mediocre. It's a unit that needs to be upgraded.

Hall is much better than mediocre.

Dre we have seen what 1 game?

Pacman is average.

Allen was good in Houston but has been injured this year.

If the Bengals 3rd CB (Pacman) is average, then the Bengals CB should be in a good situation.

WTS, Pacman hasn't played average. In fact, Pacman hasn't been played too much. But, when Pacman is on the field, he makes plays. Pacman played 48 snaps or 79% on Sunday. PFF graded Pacman with a positive 1.3 against the Chiefs, and a 4.6 against the Giants. http://www.cincyjungle.com/2012/11/1...gals-vs-chiefs

http://www.cincyjungle.com/2012/11/1...gals-vs-giants

Dre played 26 snaps or 43%. We should start to see more and more of Dre thru the end of the year.

Jason Allen remains a mystery/ghost. Who knows what is up with this cat?!?

5. WR - AJ is a beast at 1, Sanu has shown he is a player, Hawkins is a good player, after that we have nothing, Marvin Jones has done nothing yet so that #2 spot seems wide open. This need could move up if Marvin Jones doesn't show something this season.

6. CB - I like our depth here with Hall - Dre - Allen - Pacman - Then look mid to late round for a guy to come in and compete.

The rest is secondary to these needs.

I only ask this because Jason has problems with me wanting a DE in the first (who could conceivably start for us pending Dunlap's eventual injury and MJ being average) when he is pressing for such a high round CB who would sit behind Hall (for 2-3 years) and Kirkpatrick (for awhile is my guess) and then if we keep Allen (don't see us cutting him) and resign one of Pacman or Newman then where does he play if not just depth? Considering the arguments made against DE, the CB choice makes no sense.

I don't see the team drafting a CB in the first round. It wouldn't make much sense. Dre was last year's 1st round pick. He will be starting across from Leon.

I don't see why you would give up on a 1st rounder that quick.

As for DE, I also don't see why you wouldn't roll with 2 starting DEs that are under 25. They will only get better.

I would put CB over WR. Other than that, I agree.

Hard for me to say regarding greatest need, as I don't know who's contract will be up, who will get extensions, etc.

That said, I'd advocate to draft the best defensive player available with the #1 pick. Defense requires strong reactions and physical gifts, and it's hard to put those two together in the later rounds.

RB is probably the Bengal's greatest "need" if they could only get a single player, but capable running backs can be found outside of round 1, and history has many successful RBs drafted outside of the first round.

Best D player available at round 1 - keep shoring up the D.

My list is based on a couple of assumptions and ranked by value of pick (like a FB would never be drafted in the first round, but OT, CB, DE should be). My guess is MJ is franchise tagged and Smith walks.

1. OT - Whit is getting old and I predict Smith isn't back next year by his choice.
2. SS - This team has really got to fix this spot this off-season. It is holding back the D from being a top 5 unit.
3. RB - Need a gamebreaker/ 3 down back.
4. LB - I wouldn't mind a Dontay Moch type that can play up on run downs and hand in the dirt on passing downs AND STAY HEALTHY.
5. C - Lots of average guys on the team, hopefully we can find a pro-bowler in the draft.
6. FB - I love Pressley, but he just doesn't fit the WC offense. Does Tom Rathman have any sons playing college ball?

I don't agree with your assessment. Like Bengal Rugby and several others on here, I think the main needs are safety, running back, outside linebacker. Maybe not in that exact order. It depends on how the draft falls, and what we do in free agency. OK, hold the laughter down on that free agency remark.

Agree with all this except I put the WR after the SS - unless Jones emerges in a major way. That and the RB are the missing pieces of a dominant offence.

On board with everything else though

Seems I remember somebody was saying we'd be in good shape with Binns as our #2 WR.

I dunno. I hear what you guys are saying but I'd like to see some us work on the lines more. A pro-bowl caliber offensive lineman helps your pass game AND your run game. Otherwise you're going to be wasting any talent you do find at RB and wondering why they're successful on other teams.

But I realize I'm in the minority here. I guess we'll see what happens.

We really need a ballhawk type of guy either at CB or S. We just don't get the INT's that we should. We have a defense of tacklers (which is a good thing), but we don't have the guys that will make the great plays on the ball to put a game away.

RB SS DE OT ILB are all decent needs IMHO. OT more for depth after Smith and Whit.
