" former Oakland Raiders head coach and offensive coordinator at Cal in the Steve Mariucci era. Jackson had an unceremonious exit in Oakland after an 8-8 season and had his share of issues with management and PR, but it would follow in the mold of making a high-splash NFL hire."
Jackson would bring along DeWayne Walker (New Mexico State head coach and former Cal DBs coach under Mooch) as his defensive coordinator, presuming that Walker doesn't return for the Aggies (he is likely to be relieved of duty with NMSU currently 1-9). Source: californiagoldenblogs.com |

Good for Hue. Hate to see him leave but he deserves another shot

Well he's already a familiar face in the area and that would be a step up for him to go from disgraced by that collapse in Oakland to an obscure job with the Bengals to a head coaching job in a bcs conference

I don't think he's going anywhere....I think one of our coordinators is as good as gone, and Hue will be taking their spot.

I'd love to see Hue as our head coach.
He has the ability to get the most out of players. I maintain that he is the reason for Chad & TJ's success with us. Marvin to GM, Hue to HC.....make it happen, Mikey.

We already rewarded him for letting us rob the Raiders blind on the Carson Palmer trade. I wish him well.

Hue is getting paid to essentially do nothing on this team... It was a hookup for the Carson Palmer swindle. Good for Hue though, i hope he makes a better HC in the NCAA.

I dont see us being able to hold onto him unless he was promised Jay's job if he were to leave.
I dont know nor do any of us on the board if he would rather stay in the NFL or take a Head Coaching job in college. As others have stated I think he is an above average coach and would love to see him stay in Cincy in any capacity.

I think we all knew he wasn't going to be with us long. I think it was a smart move bringing him in, plus we didn't have to fire anyone to bring him in, we just made an opening.

Cal is in the process of renavating their football facilities so I bet he would jump all over that if he could. Especially in Cal, where football is up there with Texas and Florida. Wish him the best of luck if he takes it.

Thanks ! I knew I was kind of popping-off, without knowing when he actually started with us. ![]() Regardless, I still think he kept their ego's in check. He definately deserves another shot at HC.

I would rather Hue be our next HC over Jay or Zim, so I'm bummed he might leave. That said, it looks like Marv's job is safe.

Former Raiders coach Hue Jackson said he has not heard from Cal but that he would be interested in the Bears' coaching position, calling it "a golden opportunity" for whoever gets the job.
"I think they can be as good as they want to be," Jackson told this newspaper Tuesday in a phone interview. "They should have an opportunity to compete for the Pac-12 championship, BCS bowls, the national championship. Why not Cal?" Jackson, 47, was offensive coordinator at Cal in 1996. Currently coaching defensive backs and special teams for the Cincinnati Bengals, Jackson led the Raiders to an 8-8 record in 2011, his only as head coach in Oakland. He was the Raiders' offensive coordinator in 2010. He stressed that he has not heard from anyone at Cal, but would welcome a call. "I'm sure I would. I see no reason not to," he said. This year was just a holding pattern for him. If he moves on good luck to him.

I would wish him well, but I wouldn't go to California. That place is swamped in politics. It took Tedford forever to get a new stadium.

Oakland made a big mistake in firing him....

No they did not.
They made a mistake in promoting him to head coach. Hue is a great coordinator but should not be a head coach... at least not at the pro level.
