The Lions host the Texans in an AFC South @ NFC North battle. Post all thoughts on the game here. 12:30 on WKRC 12.

Officials really blew it on the Justin Forsett touchdown.

Don't worry, Shank Graham is gonna give this game to the Lions.

No they didn't.
Schwartz not knowing the rule did.

Schwartz not knowing the rule doesn't change the fact that the officials blew the call on the field.
It also doesn't change the fact that the rule *****. PFT and 99% of fans agree with me. The league will be changing that rule, trust me.

Also, really got a good feeling about the Lions. They play the Colts in a couple of weeks and could help us out a lot with a win against them. |

He is an idiot. Plain and simple. No where did I argue the rule should stand. But the REFS got it right. Schwartz didnt. It was a close play so the refs let it go, which is the right thing to do. The Lions quit before the whistle and then Schwartz screwed up. Not the refs fault.

why is the rule there? What is benefit or the disadvantage of throwing a red flag on a play that will be reviewed anyways ? What is the NFL trying to prevent or discourage with a rule like that?

Jim Nantz and Phil Simms said technically by throwing the flag he was delaying the game, which made it a penalty.

Yup. In the NFL.com story on the call, they reported that a league source said they will get rid of the rule next year. Too late for the Lions though.

Some of you are so overreactionary. Jesus.
In live time it could easily have seemed as if his body never fully went down. And FYI, for those of you who absolutely LOVE hyperbole apparently, a knee grazing and forearm touching is not the "whole body." The refs did the right thing in letting anything close go. The whistle never blew. You don't stop playing until the whistle blows. The refs did nothing wrong. This is all on the Lions players and coaches. Good job Forsett for playing until the whistle blows.

Even watching it in real time (as I did several times) it still seems like an easy call. The refs messed that part up. They got the stupid rule correct though. Btw, it now looks like they'll possibly ditch the rule THIS year. If that doesn't tell you the Lions got f'd, I don't know what will.
