I think most people thought that the Browns would be tougher than normal today. With Ben out,you know their attitude was "This is our chance to beat these guys." Still,I thought the Steelers would pull out a close W with Batch. I was frankly surprised that Polamalu and Brown didn't play,as I thought both had returned to practice this week. Tomlin was probably holding out some unrealistic hope of an AFCN title and saving them for Baltimore next week.

Possibly, although I think it's more likely they didn't play Brown and Troy because they were on the cusp and you don't want to risk re-injury, especially with Troy. Winning the division is unrealistic now, but I think we still wrap up a WC spot. I'd take our roster, healthy, over any other AFC team, aside from the Broncos at home. Just got to get there.

I agree with your first statement as well. One of the drawbacks of being the preeminent franchise in the league is that you always get your opponents best game. There are no gimme games for us.

Dude... everyone in the NFL knows that the Bengals are where careers go to die. Pick 6 Palmer wanted to go somewhere that might give him a chance to give his career a boost. He isn't exactly young, as far as NFL careers go. But the Bengals boss, Mike Brown, felt that holding him hostage was a better business move. Palmer clearly wasn't happy in Cincinnati and I'm willing to bet that he had made his unhappiness known to both Mike Brown and Marvin Lewis well before he "quit".

I wouldn't be surprised if Palmer has a record breaking day and passes for something like 500 yds and 6 TD's. He's THAT motivated!

If he does that, the Bengals season is pretty much over!

The Browns have a new owner,and you know he wanted this one bad,as well. The Browns stink,but if you don't show up to play,anybody can beat anybody in the NFL,and that's what happened to the Steelers today. It was a classic trap game,sandwiched in between the two Baltimore games,and Pittsburgh got caught looking ahead.

It's pretty much a three team race for the 2 AFC WC's. Indy has a game in hand and the AFC record tiebreaker,but have the toughest remaining schedule,IMO. The Steelers are beat up,but have the head to head tiebreaker over the Bengals,right now. One advantage the Bengals may have is that when we play Baltimore again in Week 17,they may have nothing to play for and sit their starters.
