I blame the ref's bad call on the Browns fumble with 2:10 left.

Correction. The offense looked awful, the D came to play. One bright spot is that Beachum looked decent in relief. Of course it's only half of one game, but he didn't embarrass himself like Jonathan Scott would have.

I know that was tongue in cheek, but that call still really chapped my ash. We got bent over in NY when they called a incomplete pass a fumble due to replay being able to review it. Then they call an incredibly obvious fumble down instead of allowing replay to confirm it. Getting f'd over both ways possible on that rule really annoys me. Batch would probably have found a way to give it back though.

It may have been tongue and cheek but Winters is still a 98 year old a**hole.

Did you hear Cowher before the game on his replay review changes he'd make. All close plays would be reviewed automatically like in college and done from a studio in NY like the NHL.

I've been saying the same thing. Just to get the obvious ones.

Of course Periera on twitter said they called "Forward motion" was stopped. Even though they didn't make a call until the play was over.

Winter also threw a flag on a kick return after the teams were already getting their offense and defense on the field.

Separate from this game they need younger, fitter, full time refs and replays in one place.

The average time between when the flag was thrown and when Winters announced the call was like 2 minutes, 8 seconds.

Kudos to the Browns on the win today. Every dawg has its day, I guess.

Yes. Yes, it was. 8 turnovers. Pretty sure Tomlin lost his cool in the locker room afterward. And who could blame him?

The thing is I bet he didn't.

He never seems to lose his cool...and that might be what's needed once or twice.

I didn't see it so I guess there's a first time for everything.

I don't mind extra effort turnovers. But Mendenhall needed to be sat down for the game after his performance last week too.

LOL! No they had a ref take one for them.

SD stinks...and that 4th down never should have even been close...but there's no way he made it to the 33 1/2 yard line.

NFL is setting up for another Harbaugh vs Harbaugh Super Bowl that won't happen.

I'm tired of defending the Steelers but I keep seeing homer fans trying to pick apart the Steelers for the performance. Ultimately, they lost and part of me is really excited...but lets look at the facts...Charlie Batch was playing at QB, third string, he never sees the field and really has no control over the offense, nor the intangibles to be even remotely close to Big Ben. 8 turnovers is freakish, absolutely freakish. I'll use the example of the Knicks/Celtics game last year, where the Knicks made I believe it was like 20 3 pointers? Yet, Boston finished Top 3 in defense, as usual? It doesn't really mean anything, nor should anyone look into it.

The fact is, the moment you count out the Pittsburgh Steelers, is the moment when you can kiss your team's season goodbye. We have all made that mistake before and I'm not going to do it again. As long as the ownership stays the same, the defense is strong and the offense can do something, you should never, ever count the Steelers out.

However, they can all still **** my balls.

Every time I see that Winters is the ref I know it's going to be a miserable game to watch. Put the damn flags away.

I'll tell you though, old and without Troy the Steeler defense is awfully impressive. Both last week and this week.

Just sorry I couldn't watch the Carson beat down. It was still fun to see the score jump every few minutes at the bottom of the screen though.

Yeah, I feel the same about Winters. I counted 4 or 5 of the holding calls for both teams that were weak at best. And like I said before, the Steelers did not derserve that win but how that last play by Richardson was not a fumble I will never understand.

Its like the two "fumbles" (1 against the Giants and 1 against the Chiefs) that were returned for TD's.

If you have someone paid to stand there and watch they should be able to see.

Add to that they didn't call it "forward progress" until after the ball was recovered.

That didn't cost the Steelers the game by any stretch...but the refs are bad.

I'm assuming forward progress. There is no other explanation. It's not like the fumble was hidden in a crowd.

Can't even count forward progress because the whistle hadn't blown.

If it was forward progress it was a quick damn whistle.

If they truly defend that blown call as 'forward progress', then Rainey's goal line TD shouldn't have counted and half of Dwyers yards came after his "forward progress" was stopped. That is the best explaination the NFL has, but I think the NFL should just admitt when bad calls happen and not try to sugar coat and make excuses/possible explainations. The refs can and will mess up calls, but the NFL front office needs to just be professional and responsible for the refs' actions and just admitt things as they happened. There's no need to hire Casey Antony's defense team to tell the public that Ben's "fumble" vs the Giants was actually a fumble even though it may have looked very clear that it was incomplete.
