I'm with you on Elam. There is no safety I would rather have in this draft.

This is, however, a deep safety draft, especially compared to recent years. That actually hurts his stock a little, IMO. He's not head-and-shoulders above other guys, as I don't think most teams draft SS/FS per se, but safeties in general.

If he manages to get the persona that he is the top safety I think we would be lucky to get him with Oakland's pick.

Has anybody had a chance to watch Vaccaro at any length? I've gotten interested in him from reading early draft material, but can't say I've got a real fix on his talent. Seems like he might fall somewhere in the mid to late 20s.

You do not like Gohlston or byrd?

I doubt either team lets them hit FA.
Buffalo should use their tag on Byrd.

That is pretty much the beginning and end of the list.

Is it uncalled for as a player to approach your coach on a draft prospect? For example, AJ going up to Marvin and telling him he should draft Rambo? I doubt it would have much affect on who they want to draft, but you would think that the comradeship would get Marvin thinking a little bit. Its one thing to be "best friends," but its another to be "best friends with a top prospect." Rambo is going to project as a 2nd or 3rd round pick, unless he completely bombs the combine. Honestly, I think he would give us some flexibility on who we can pick up with our first and our 2A pick, because we can always take him with our 2B pick. Who knows what is going to happen, but I would love to see Rambo in a Bengals jersey. My Safety Ranking: Rambo Vaccarro Reid McDonald Elam Jefferson |

Uncalled for? No.
It probably happens. Granted, it is most likely the coach initiating the conversation. Maybe He will ask AJ about Rambo and want his opinion. I've heard of teams doing that. I haven't heard of a player lobbying for a teammate because it could be viewed as not trusting/having faith in current teammates. You don't want that out there as a player.

You mean the guy who has been our best safety (and probably our top 3 DBs) since he has been here?

Yes. The fact that he has stood out as one of our best DBs high lights how terrible the others at his position truly are. We know who Chris Crocker is and what he can and can't do. The fact that he is head and shoulders above everyone else at his position should set off very loud alarm bells to get a new stud safety.
