You guys ever heard of the Krampus? This is some freaky stuff!...
Krampus is a mythical creature recognized in Alpine countries. According to legend, Krampus accompanies Saint Nicholas during the Christmas season, warning and punishing bad children, in contrast to St. Nicholas, who gives gifts to good children. When the Krampus finds a particularly naughty child, it stuffs the child in its sack and carries the frightened child away to its lair, presumably to devour for its Christmas dinner. In the Alpine regions, Krampus is represented as a beast-like creature, generally demonic in appearance. The creature has roots in Germanic folklore. Traditionally young men dress up as the Krampus in Austria, southern Bavaria, South Tyrol, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia during the first week of December, particularly on the evening of 5 December, and roam the streets frightening children with rusty chains and bells. Krampus is featured on holiday greeting cards called Krampuskarten. There are many names for Krampus, as well as many regional variations in portrayal and celebration. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krampus ![]() ![]() I had no clue such a thing existed. That certainly would scare me straight as a little child around Christmas time!

Good lord! If I would have known this as a kid, I'd have hid out in the woods until X-Mas was over. And you realize you just gave MorningStar a weapon against Santa Claus?
![]() This thread goes religious by noon. EDIT: I think the bottom picture shows 2 grown up neek's, attempting to get a date. Last edited by RumbleCat; 11-27-2012 at 10:12 AM. |

I have never heard of the Krampus..There are legends I am familar with though..I do believe that the spiritual realm and earthly realm meet and good and bad things can happen..I think bigfoot is a demon personally just like Krampus but we are not to give no glory to them..What concerns me more is that there are hybrids on the earth now..that is freaky..In south Africa where there are no restrictions to genetic testing there have been freaky sightings of hybrid people!!!!!!!

I thought for sure this was some combination of "Kramer" and "Festivus".

Ah yes, Krampus. For other versions check out Pere Fouettard, Belsnickel, and Gryla.

Sorry, hope the Dew didn't get on anything. I spilled some on a teenage girl at the game. But seriously, if I said, "Close your eyes and picture two grown neek's hitting on a chick." Would that not pop in your head? All three of them frolicking about in the woodlands, wreaking havoc and such. The Dairy Queen afterwards. |

As for this Krampus fella,...you don't believe in Santa Claus, and reject his teachings, yet you think that his evil sidekick is real? Tell me more. Also....I thought, the "Is that what your wife said" joke was kinda funny. Completely unexpected. If it were a normal person it would be meh though.

I studied abroad for a semester in Austria when in college. The Krampus were definitely out and about at any and every Advent celebration/market. Certainly something different! I'm sure I have some pictures somewhere, but don't feel like digging for them now..

Yeah, I grew up seeing Belsnickel myself. Being Pennsylvania Dutch, some family still hold onto those traditions. So when I was younger, I'd see Belsnickel at things during the holiday season with family.
