My Dad's beer turned to slushy ice before he would get back to his seat.

I will tell you the game has the pregame hype as well as commercials.
I loved the old uniforms.
I loved watching the Bengals play on TV at River Front Stadium.
I loved watching the Bengals win and win and win.

During the first break you will see a commercial with none other then ....

My dad, brother-in-law, and I brought sleeping bags to sit in. We also had coffee in thermoses, which got cold, but never froze.

But the Bengals kept the outrageously powerful offense in check. It was a game worth freezing for.

I watched this game at my grandparents house when I was 11. I remember being so hyped after the win that me and one of my buddies went outside in the snow to play football. Then later I went home, sat by the stove and settled in to watch Dallas at SF for the NFC championship game. Two great peices of NFL history that same day.The "Freezer Bowl" and "The Catch". I remember being mad cause I wanted Cincy to play Dallas because the Niners had already beaten them once earlier in the season and I was worried..turns out with good reason!
The Freezer Bowl was a great memory!

Did anyone notice Collinsworth as a rookie sighting his WR heroes as Lynn Swann or John Stallworth? Kind of lets a person know who his team was as a child and gives a little insight as to why he is such a Steeler homer as an analyst.

Why do people think he's a steeler homer? He's very much a bengal homer. He gives the steelers his due to try and remain unbiased.

Did you know that everyone from Cincinnati was at that game?

I wasn't even born yet, but I was there too!

The only day in my life I got an ice cream headache without eating ice cream. We were walking toward the stadium, along the side of the coliseum. When we got in the open, the wind coming off the river literally felt like a slap in the face.

I didn't dog Collinsworth for it.I merely pointed out an observation. He was one of my favorite players in 1981!
He is constantly gushing about the Pittsburgh Steelers and has been doing it for years as an announcer.
He's entitiled to like whichever team he likes...obviously it's PItt.
Sorry that you don't like that fact. Once again I didn't say a bad word about him.I merely pointed out an observation from the 1981 AFC Championship game.

Well when he grew up the Steelers were the literally the gold standard of the nfl and had the best players at the position he played and because of this they were on tv frequently when he grew up in Florida, apart from the Dolphins who else was he gonna idolize?

I agree.
The Cowboys were pretty popular so maybe Butch Johnson or Drew Pearson...lol...or how bout Billy "white shoes" Johnson.
I understand why he said what he said, Swann and Stallworth were both pretty amazing at his position during that era.
