I often wonder if people just roll out of bed in the morning and say something along the lines of 'hmm, maybe i'll just go post something st00pid on the bengals message board about something a month away'
seems logical ![]() |

Sure, but they just say they would have beaten us anyway (even excluding that playoff game, we are 1-9 versus the Steelers in Cinci under Lewis). We'll never know for sure how that playoff game would have ended with Carson playing the whole game, but, let's face it, if we beat the Steelers with Batch at QB it's a little harder for us to play the "we would have won anyway" card. We'd have to deal with other fans and TV pundits all undermining our victory ... but that could be easily solved by going on a solid playoff run and showing that we can beat good teams on the road.

Because it would be undermined. It's not in the control of the Bengals, but beating them with Batch is hardly the same thing as beating them with Ben. That doesn't make it any less valid of a win, but it doesn't really give much indication as to how they would do against Ben. Having said that, I don't care how they would do against whatever lineup there could hypothetically be. I care about how they do against the lineup they play.

Nah....give me a team with all 22 starters out. A win is a win, and I'd rather have it easier. Now, if I was guaranteed a win either way, I'd rather have the opposition at full health, but as it is, I think the Bengals should take any break that they can get.

The Steelers are desperate and it might end up hurting them. Ben could end up getting killed this Sunday and it might even be literal. A rib threatening your Aorta is not a little dillio. Suggs might just kill the dude.

Ugh, this old "battle cry" again.
Would I rather beat them with our full healthy roster vs their full healthy roster, sure. We are down some pretty key guys as well (IR guys, and Cook, Dre has been extremely limited and is behind...etc) If we win do I even think twice about ANY of that. NO Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2

Pitt is a team in a steep downward spiral. They should have drafted a new QB two years ago. Their OL is a mess. They brought back Plaxico fer crying out loud. How desperate is that? It will take 2-3 drafts for them to reload.
Beating them is a division win, regardless of who is or isn't playing. They chose to ride a QB past his point of being able to stay on the field, while his backups are simply woeful. That's their choice, and how the entire team is made up. You beat their team, not just one player. |

I've stopped caring if the teams the Bengals play are fully healthy. In my mind, a win is a win, and as long as the Bengals can beat the teams they need to beat when they need to beat them, knocking off a team that's down doesn't hurt my fan pride at all.
If the Bengals won out the season and actually got a/some playoff win(s), I don't think anyone would look back and say it was because the Squealers were down for one meeting that the Bengals saw success.

Whatever allows for the most assured Bengals victory, I'm all for.
Ben still out, Batch down with the flu, and Bradshaw called out of the booth to lace'em up. All their running backs miss the bus. Their entire o-line gets foot poisoning from eating Skyline chili. I do not care. Would it be nice to beat the Steelers at full strength? You bet, but the odds of the Bengals winning goes down significantly if that is the case. All things being equal, I want the circumstances that give the Bengals the best chance of success. An unhealthy Big Ben accomplishes part of that and I hope he is still out when the Bengals play them near the end of the season.

The only team I care about being at full strength is the Bengals. Injuries are part of the game and it's safe to say the Bengals will be dealing with their share come Week 16. If the Steelers aren't fortunate to be a particularly healthy unit at that time, then so be it. There's no column in the standings for wins against undermanned opponents.
