Pretty sure he's going to be represented by Peterson's agent as well.

Incredibly talented player, yet can't stay out of trouble off the field...
sounds familiar...I don't want him. |

I would be fine with bringing him in as a udfa, but I don't really know what position he would play besides return man.

McShay said he could be a 3rd round pick.
That is where he would be drafted if he was clean off the field IMO. I bet someone throws a 5th or 6th at him (hopefully not us).

If he goes undrafted, give Adams Jones a chance to help him turn his life around. He's got to be better than Tate at returning kicks and punts.

That's my issue with Mathieu. It looks like he will be strictly a KR/PR in the NFL. I don't see how a team could justify spending even a mid round draft pick on that.

Devin Hester and the Bears would beg to differ

I would definitely take a chance on him in the 4th-5th round. He can basically be groomed to take the role that Adam Jones has been playing (CB/PR). Only difference is, I would move him over to slot corner.

Hester was a fine CB prospect who never panned out on defense. The returns were bonus in college.

So you think Mathieu will have the kind of impact Hester did?
Quote:
My issue is that he is not only severely undersized, but he struggles in coverage. He has great instincts and made a ton of impact plays in college, I just don't think he will ever achieve a similar level of success in the NFL.

Would you say all these guys are idiots too? Staying totally fried all day everyday is one thing, but smoking a joint once or twice a day has no effect on your overall intelligence, nor is it indicative of how successful you'll be. In fact, some of the greatest minds in history used/use MJ. |

It would be one thing if Mathieu was just undersized (he looks like he is 5' 7"), but he is not a great cover guy. He got beat quite a bit, and I don't see how he will have success in the NFL if he struggled with college WRs.

I think he has the potential to replicate the success that Hester has had as a return man.
For this reason i wouldn't be surprised if a team used a 3rd or even a low 2nd on him. |

I would draft him and play him at Saftey. Outside of his affinity for marijuana, the only negatives are his size and technique. The latter can be vastly improved with coaching. Everything else this kid has.

Use him exactly as Les Miles did at LSU and how Polamalu is used by the Steelers. He roams every where from the "Star" position using his athleticism and ball skills to make plays. He's small but he sticks his head into a tackle well.

It's much easier to find a few exceptions to the rule, than to try and explain why the vast majority of dopers aren't famous and successful... I could come up with a list much longer than that, comprised of regular citizens that I have actually known in my lifetime that have failed or held themselves back from bettering themselves by smoking or continuing to smoke dope on a regualar basis. As for the Honey Badger? Sure, I'd love to have him on the Bengals with a 4th or 5th round pick. Leon Hall should be good for a few more years, Dre Kirk should be able to take over as Newman fades into retirement, Mathieu would make a suitable player to take over the Adam Jones role as the 3rd CB and PR/KR position.
