Default Jim Schwartz effect

We all know his thrown flag last week cost Detroit a crucial TD in an OT game. However, my question is could Gary Kubiak have thrown the flag on his own team taking a 15 yard penalty yet sealing a TD that clearly didnt happen??

Similar play happened tonight at the end of the Falcons-Saints game where Turner fumbled and New Orleans returned it for a TD. Then it was reviewed and reversed. Could the Saints have thrown a red flag to void any review and just sacrifice a penalty?

I saw an article the other day that addressed this topic. I don't remember the official that was doing the interview, but they confirmed that you could not use that tactic to benefit your team.
