Details have not yet been fully reported yet but it does say that a player of the chiefs has been shot near their facility. The name of the player or the condition of the player has not been reported

UPDATE 10:36 a.m. ET: Per KCTV, one shooting occurred at the facility and a related shooting occurred elsewhere. A player reportedly shot and killed his girlfriend then drove to practice facility and shot himself there.
The reports are that the Chiefs player is Jovan Belcher. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of both of the people shot. Jovan Allen Belcher (born July 24, 1987 - died December 1, 2012) was an American football linebacker with the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League. He played collegiately with the Maine Black Bears. He played defensive end during his junior and senior years, after switching to the position from outside linebacker where he played as sophomore and freshman. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jovan_Belcher Last edited by Shep Dawg; 12-01-2012 at 10:47 AM. |

Gotta wonder if they had an argument or something, so he shot her and then killed himself because of guilt or because he couldn't believe he did it, or if he became all messed up in the head because of injuries and just went off the deep end.

Tragic story indeed. Without knowing all the details and if the above poster is correct that he shot his girlfriend and then shot himself then I only feel bad for the girl. Also sad for their surviving family members.

Wow. Just wow. Learn to live and live well, people. Between Point A and Point B, bring as much joy to the world that you can and take as much back in return.

That's just sick. PFT is deleting posts identifying that name, as it has not been released because of notifying the family. Meanwhile, some SOB is SO eager to be the guy behind the story that they'll change the page. It's a disgrace to his family and the poor girl who was murdered.

Sometimes we think pro athletes have perfect lives compared to our own.
But they are human and have issues just like any of us. The Chiefs organization just can't seem to find any kind of success or good fortune. it was Joe Delaney 30 years ago and now. How does Romeo Crennell get the team to respond to be able to focus tomorrow? |

thats sad...so young he was only 25 and two deaths, he was a good linebacker really starting to blossom...became a starter and posted good stats over the past couple years

Obviously tragic news. I could care less about the guy who killed himself though - I feel bad for his poor girlfriend, her family, and the player's family - but not the player himself. He should have gone for help or at least just killed himself, leaving the girl out of it. He's a coward.
Unfortunately for the fans, we're going to have to listen to this over and over again on NFL Network, ESPN, CBS, and Fox. I almost don't even want to watch any of the games tomorrow. The last thing I want to have is terrible news mixed with football. This is why I watch football to get away from stories like this. |

Danny Parkins@DannyParkins
The player apparently was confronted with #Chiefs coaches in the parking lot before he put the gun to his head and committed suicide. Update, 11:20 a.m.: Belcher may have committed suicide in front of Romeo Crennel and Scott Pioli: .........ESPN 980@ESPNRadio980 Word out of Kansas City is that linebacker Javon Belcher, killed his girlfriend then committed suicide in front of head coach and GM

Wow. That's a sad and crazy story.
Relationships aren't worth killing yourself over. This will probably get looked at in the context of head injuries and impaired thinking from it. Right or wrong? Who knows how much football impacts brain function... |

Quote:
Props to the Coaches. A lot of people would avoid that, but who knows...they may have saved other peopls lives by confronting him. |
