Who are some underrated players that you think should be getting more attention from Heisman voters?
For example, it took way too long for the folks in the media to jump on the Manziel bandwagon, and for a long time there were RBs with worse stats in every rushing category than Braxton Miller who were being looked at ahead of him. Now I will anger the entire ND fanbase by saying that I feel Manti Te'o is incredibly overrated. This has nothing to do with the fact that he is a defensive player, but is instead fueled by the fact that I can name two other LINEBACKERS from the incredibly limited pool of games that I watch (I watch Big Ten games and the top 5 teams each week) who are as good as or better than Te'o. They are Michael Mauti and Ryan Shazier. In this vein, who are the players you have seen this year who are not getting the attention they deserve? And who are some players who you think are getting hype for no reason?

I actually think Shazier should be in the 'hype', but him playing for Ohio State put a damper on that this year. If OSU hadn't of had all the bans they had placed on them this year, you'd probably have heard a bit more about him, and even Braxton Miller.

Maybe I'm alone on this, but I think Jordan Lynch from Northern illinois should at least be mention one time anywhere for Heisman candidate. I too think Te'o is overrated. I think Brax should win it.

Te'o should win because he is the best player on the best team during the regular season.

This is where the problem is. You can be the best player in the country without being on the best team in the country. Te'o isn't even the best linebacker in the country, and he's looking like a finalist just because of his team's record. I think Manziel is the best player in the country, and he clearly isn't on the best team.

For the Heisman to Manziel crowd.....
The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. http://espn.go.com/college-football/...nziel-arrested

To me it is very simple
In the Pro's the best player on the best defense won last year - Terrell Suggs In college the best player on the best defense on the best team in the country is Te'o - he should win the heisman.

Te'o should not win the Heisman.
He is so incredibly overrated right now it is unbelievable. People watch him play with blinders on because "OMG Te'o!" Johnny Football or Klein should get it. Ball should probably be on the list. As well as Marquise Lee

Its harder to make a case against Klein. I guess the Baylor game really screwed up his chances. 3 picks? Not a very Heisman worthy moment. Te'o should win the Heisman because he's the most valuable player on the defensive side of ND's football team. The best player on the best defense on a team that's undefeated and going to the National Championship game. That's why Te'o should win the award.

Why the hate on Te'o. If anything, it's a good thing defensive players are being considered for their contributions.
That said, Manziel is more deserving than anyone in recent years.

Te'o is a fine player, but as I have said before, there are two B1G linebackers who are better than him. That's ignoring every other position and every other conference. He has no business being listed as one of the top three players in the country. Manziel has my vote, I just wondered who else people thought were being overlooked.
