They have an absolutely horrible offensive line. Probably the teams biggest weakness…so yeah Im sure Nates a star(no pun intended)

Well, any time that I have watched him play, he lines up on the LEFT side of the DL, which is over the RIGHT side of the OL. Peko, who lines up on the RIGHT side of the DL is the one who will be over the LG, which will be Livings.

Geno more often than not lines up over the RG in a base formation.
Sometimes in the nickle or dime he switches over the LG and lately Geathers has been sliding in.

He's a decent pass protector, but his inability to get a push in the run game is legendary.

True I was looking at traditional 4-3 set up Geno will line up strong side which is generally right side but yeah he will get flashes of Nate depending on where TE goes.

I've read that he's been a performing above expectations but he's far from stellar.

Even then, Peko is still usually over the LG. Geno only moves when a 2nd UT or DE slides in.

Well, I hope our defensive line doesn't go into the game thinking about how to humiliate Livings. The only thing on their minds should be executing the game plan, and finding the football, not who they can beat up.

Make the tackle on the ball carrier, get the sack, create pressure and hits on the quarterback. Disrupt. Forget about Livings personally, just go win a damn football game.

I dont think they will be thinking much about Livings. I do think Newman and Jones might have a chip on their shoulders especially with a large crowd behind them.

I think you will find if you watch closely that they are doing more presnap flipping than they have done in the past. I really noticed in in SD. Not sure what they are looking for when they flip but I noticed it several times in the past few games.

As far as Livings goes I do not think it matters who he is going against. Gene certainly owns virtually anyone he lines up over and Peko if you watch is getting much more upfield push this season.

Peko is a very good DT and is highly respected around the league. It is only on these boards that he is undervalued. I promise he would not be left sitting in FA to come back here on a 1 year deal like another DT we have that seems to be held in such high regard on these boards.

I assume that they have Peko line up on the strong side to take on double teams, since he seems better at not getting pushed back than penetrating, and they have Geno shoot either of the inside gaps on the weak side.

This is correct. When they're in their base 4-3 set, the defensive line lines up according to where the strong side of the offense is. Geno is our 3 technique. Peko is our 1. That means that Geno lines up on the outside shoulder of the strong side guard and Peko lines up on the weak side shoulder of the center in most of our formations.

Of course, there are instances where Geno may move to a 1 or 0 technique when we bring in our pass rush package. It's also possible for both DT's to line up as 2 or 3 techniques, or any combination of that.

The point is, the alignment of our defensive line depends solely on the formation of the offense.

Some here have a higher opinion of "Nasty Nate" than is warranted. While he was here we not only got no run push inside to the left but we had a constant problem with pressure right in the face of the QB from the left (through Livings). Note that even with Boling's growing pains we have improved in both departments.

Livings went to the Cowboys who have experienced much the same (pressure right in Romo's face and problem running to the left).
