False, the Bengals are relying on the Ravens and Steelers to lose out. With a 1-3 division record and a 5-5 conference record, the Bengals can only win the division with a better record than the Ravens. So if you lose to the Cowboys and the Ravens win at least 1 game in the next 4 (so essentially we don't end the season with a 5 game losing streak) then you are unable to take the division. Assuming the game we win isn't week 17, it would come down to the divisional tiebreaker. 4-2 > 3-3.

Okay, maybe you meant for the wildcard. Again, false. If you lose next week, 7-6 still keeps you behind the colts and means you need the Steelers to lose.

In no way are the Bengals "in control of their own destiny". Do you even know what that means?

They control their own destiny for a WC. If they win out, they don't need anyone to lose to make it.

Why would anyone suggest we lose to the Cowboys in the first place?

Every week since the Giants game, I feel this team is beginning to have a different feel to it. The defense is playing very well - so well to a point where it can carry the team if the offense is sputtering, like what happened against the Chargers. Nothing was perfect that game. The Bengals were climbing but they did manage to win and that is what counts. I think the stigma of The Bungles is burned in everyone's mind across the NFL that they actually expects US to make mistakes and fold. Well, surprise surprise. Guess who got kicked in the nads and their had lunch money taken away.

Bengals 3-1 vs the Cowboys @ home. 4-6 overall. They have a winning record against every NFC East team other than the Cowboys.

A loss to Dallas does not damage the Bengals controlling their own destiny to win the 6th spot.

If the Bengals lose to Dallas or the Eagles, but win their remaining 3 games, they are in the playoffs.
