What is your favorite? Mine is Burl Ives - "Holly Jolly Christmas"

Now the real reason I started this thread. In the song - "Tis The Season" Fa la la la la ....
It has a line that says, and I quote, "Don we now, our gay apparel". Okay, what in the name of moses is "gay" apparel? Leather chaps and vests? That's not Christmasy!

BJ, can you help me out with this? What does it mean?

In the olden days, gay meant happy or festive.

Perhaps that song should be re-recorded to use a word of modern content equivolence?

But then again, have you looked at many of those Christmas sweaters?? They're pretty gay...

You have it all wrong but it is not your fault, these are commonly misquoted lyrics.

The real lyrics are "Do me now, in my gay apparel".

Although you are correct in thinking BJ can help you understand this.
