At this point, what would it hurt to give him a small contract for a year or two, and see what he has left? But if he were to join, and I very very much doubt he will, I'd be all for it, as long as he focused ONLY on football.

Here's a link to the audio version of the entire interview. In reality, he only talks about the Bengals for a few minutes towards to middle of the interview.

CONTRACT

I, Chad Johnson, will re-sign with the Bengals for league minimum + the following terms:
  • $100,000 for not talking to the media
  • $100,000 for not Tweeting or Facebooking or anything else related to social media
  • $10,000 for every pass caught
  • -$10,000 for every pass dropped
  • $50,000 for every TD caught
  • $1,000 for every block
  • -$2,000 for every block misses or not attempted
  • -$10,000 for anything disruptive of team chemistry

Any violation of the latter will result in an automatic release, rendering this contract null and void.

If he'd agree to this, I'd release Binns and give him his damn jersey back.

I would give him a tryout. We are in need of a #2 guy and we could us his talent as a backup if anything. He could be our slot guy too, but just as long as he gets his head out of his *** and doesn't look for attention from the media and make himself bigger than the team. And if i was Marvin i'd tell Chad that we aren't going to tolerate an i in team attitude or else he's gone.

Agreed. You have one chance to redeem your legacy with this franchise.

He was on his way to the HOF, but he blew it. Nothing will change that, but he'd have a chance to regain some measure of self-respect before he retires.

On the other hand, I think we all know this will NEVER happen.

I have always been a Chad Johnson fan, he used to be part of the appeal that drew people to the Bengals. For a time everyone loved him. He made the Bengals so much fun to watch 5-10 years ago. So with that being said I have always enjoyed Chad.

But I am a Bengals fan first. Give him a tryout. If something is not right immediately, whether Marvin, Andy, or anybody is unhappy send him home. But with our lack of a #2, it wouldn't kill us to look at him. I just want success for the Bengals.

Right because we have such a glorious rich franchise ourselves right?

I would welcome back Chad home any day of the week!

It would be a Fantasy, BUT I'd love to see Chad get signed back home, AND he contribute in the playoffs/SB run. I have always liked the guy, and I'd like to see him retire as a Bengal, too.

Is that really the point? If we're so awful, you must actually HATE Chad to want to welcome him back. Why would he want to play for such a "glorious rich franchise?" Didn't you read/hear when he said he wished he'd retired a Bengal? He must not think it's such a bad place.

Read what I said, we give him a low contract for 1 year. If he doesnt pan out or causes any trouble cut him. NO team has talked to him from what ESPN and Chad have been feeding us, he is not in the negotiating standpoint like I said, so if we offer a veterans minimum, and him talking about he would love to play again and even saying he would of loved to retire a bengal, why would he say no? And whats the real risk of US signing him to a low deal in which we could cut him at any time?

You see I'm not really promoting signing him again, but I am just saying, there really is no risk, its a low risk moderate reward kind of thing right now.

This wouldn't work because when Chad's not being like Chad his play diminishes. He was at his best when he was talking trash and dancing in the end zone. His worst years were in New England when they Completely shut him down and in 2008 when he was quiet.

It'd be a great redemption story if he comes back and does well. I just have one question: how's Chad's down-field blocking?

I wanted a vet WR before the season started and I even mentioned Chad as an option once the Dolphins let him go. I'd be all for it. Obviously we are suffering at the 2 spot. That could wind up costing us in the long run.

It already has and will continue to hurt us. We'd better hope Marvin Jones puts it together in a hurry. The playoffs have already started for us. We can't afford to lose another game all season.

I'd be very tempted to bring Chad back, but I have two fears with Chad.

1. Chad will be Ocho.
2. There will be a kind of mystique that he he was brought in to save us. I'd rather see Marvin challenge Marvin Jones and the other WRs and the whole team that they have to save themselves.

I don't know. The fan in me would like to see Chad come back in Stripes and retire with a ring....or two.

I think we can afford to lose at least one more... I don't see us finishing at 11-5...

I predicted 11-5 when the season started, but I didn't count on us losing to Miami and Cleveland.

I just watched the video, and to me Chad seems emotionally unstable. I can see it in his eyes and in his responses to criticism. We all know he's an emotional person. If he gets back into football his domestic violence incident will be front and center again. I think Chad's lost in his new life without football since that's all he's ever known. Personal issues are never good for a football team. These are some of the reasons I would stay away from him.

This.

Also, the chemistry of this team would drastically change.

I like Ocho, I really do.

But his era here represents a lot of what this team is doing well to move away from. The diva's, the team of criminals (thats not on him, just the era of this team he was a part of)... I think it's a regression if we brought him back.

He's a damn good player and could improve the team. But I like how we're moving more on the straight and narrow these days. I'd rather run with Marvin Jones the rest of the way.

Chad had a great time here. If he could just bring his play and nothing else id say yes. We're in a great spot with the team's progression as it is, leave it as it is.
