Nugent Serious Injury?

Mike Nugent injury may be worse than it appears. Per league sources Josh Brown and Nate Kaeding coming in for tryouts tomorrow #bengals


Now hearing Kaeding might not be coming in. However Brown is a definite. Might be a couple others. #bengals

Nugent appeared on the injury report today with DNP (Calf)

To be honest nugent hasnt been too good this year.

I root for him because he was a bengals fan growing up and is from the area, but if someone else can do the job then great.

I wish Nuge the best, but it won't be a huge loss for the team. He's having a down year and there are some good kickers out there right now. Whoever we pick up will probably be auditioning for next year as well. It seems we've been keeping kickers until they require a new contract, then we franchise them, then we let them go. Nugent's time is about up.

I agree that does seem to be our way. Wasn't josh brown a decent kicker for the Rams i believe?

Even if he has not had the best year, i still like the Nuge.

He's had a fine year. Maybe 2 misses have had me shaking my head, but we have seen how good he can be in last season's year.

Whether Nuge' is good to go or not, we should take a look at drafting a good kicker, or if there is no need to draft one, bring in 3/4 GOOD college guys, and make them battle for a spot to be on our team for a decade or so.

Enough of bringing in kickers that have had cups with a handful of teams and such; Graham was good, Nuge' has been great, but let's start with someone new, make him good and keep him for a while.

You ever see a kickers motion in slo-motion? That motion has to be hard on their bodies, and they practice it thousands of times in a career. Repetitive stress and lots of it on relatively fragile joints and whatnot.

Kickers don't get hurt so often. Mike Nugent does. Guy can't make it through a season.

Nuge has 2 (that I can remember) misses this year, and has made some long azz field goals. If he's having a bad year, then I hope our kickers always have bad years....

He's actually missed 4 out of 23 this year. That's good for a very mediocre 82.6%. No one said it was a bad year anyway. Just said it was a down year for him... and it is.

Or Aaron Pettrey. Damn I was mad that year. Instead of signing a proven kicker, they kept bringing in guys that wouldn't sniff an NFL roster if not for the Bengals. It's like they knew the season was shot, so they went cheap at kicker.

If the Nuge is really out (which I hope isnt the case) why not pick up Grey Cup winner, Swayze Water. He traveled the NFL a little bit, and then had to go to the CFL. He kicked a 61 yarder to force over time and then became kicker for the Grey Cup champions. There is a video of him on YouTube kicking a 60, 65 and 70 yard fieldgoals. Why not snag a diamond in the rough?

Stitser is the only kicker ever who could make the 40+, and miss the -30.

And Noel Prefontaine is a tons more accurate and consistent kicker, he was just injured.
