I liked him as a person and special teamer, just not as a player. I still remember when he got all that great press for saving that person's life when the Bengals still had the badboy image. Wonderful.

He had the best game of any defender yesterday, are you crazy?

1 negative play, and that was the MT on Ellis' first run.

Lynch looked better than either of the Bengals safeties Sunday and is likely much better than any of the safeties on the bench.

No idea why he's getting hated on, except that he was on the other team? When looked at objectively, if you think Lych was bad, then you have to think the Bengals safeties are terrible...

Lynch was awful while he was here. I thought Nelson looked good, he was doing double duty cleaning up after Newman who couldnt keep up with Denario Alexander. Newman was giving him a 5 yard cushion every play.

Newman almost always gives the receiver a 5 yard cushion. Sometimes even more. I'm surprised more teams don't game plan around that and audible into quick slants on his side.

Probably because defenses in the NFL work differently than the defenses in Madden 13.

And that's not an insult or shot at you. I love Madden and when I play it and I see that big cushion, I just quick audible to a slant or a comeback and it's wide open every time.

But in the NFL, linebackers are actually intelligent.

In the play where Dalton was intercepted for a touchdown, Dalton saw non press coverage. It wasn't a huge cushion, maybe 2 or 3 yards, but the CB was playing off coverage and allowed Green to get a free release.

Dalton saw that and tried to quickly hit him for an easy first down.

Problem is, the Linebacker's responsibility covered the quick slant, causing the pick six.

The reason teams don't audible for a quick slant when they see off coverage very often is because off coverage usually means the Linebackers will be patrolling the middle of the field. In zone coverage, CBs playing off doesn't really matter because that WR might not even ultimately be their responsibility.

Now, another reason off coverage doesn't = an automatic quick slant first down is because when there is off coverage, it often means that the WR will have 1 on 1 coverage outside the numbers. Meaning, the linebackers are most likely not going to shade deep outs or come back routes so routes that fall short of a deep safety coverage will be 1 on 1 for the WR, which is what every offensive coordinator wants.

If a CB is playing heavy press coverage, he may press and drop into flat coverage, allowing the LB to follow WRs into the curl zone, which is harder to stop because it then becomes the WR sandwiched between the CB in flat zone, the LB in curl zone and the safety in deep zone.

Throwing slants is nice against a pure man read, but with Linebackers squatting in the middle of the field, they are extremely dangerous, as Dalton learned in San Diego.
