Charlie Campbell's 3-Round Mock

Not a bad three rounds, but I dislike the fact that Campbell keepstaking jabs at the Bengals (Bengals are notoriously cheap, running game is pathetic, inclination to go for USC products). I don't think Campbell realizes this is 2012, not the late 2000's heh.

Thoughts on his mock?

We would be more inclined to take a UGA product than USC product.

Are they assuming we lose MJ in free agency or something?

Agreed. We have had much better results with our UGA picks than USC.

Yes, and it is always the same rationale; the bengals are cheap and don't pay their guys. Just a lack of knowledge.

And 3/4 DE are going to be free agents.
Even with MJ re-signed, DE is a worthy first round pick in our situation.

DE is definitely a worthy first round pick. IMO, the only worthy first round picks where we are looking to pick are:
DE
LB
WR

Safety and RB can both be had after the first. Plenty of good options between rounds 2-4. WR only if someone like Keenan Allen lasts that long, as he would be a perfect fit across from Green. I think Allen and a RB could be the two missing pieces to make our offense skyrocket.

Allen's inconsistent hands worry me. Id be more inclined towards Robert Woods or Justin Hunter. But that is knitpicking.

Why not just sign Geathers and Giberry and then our only concern is MJ. It is not like those 2 are going to be real costly. DE is not the top priority for the draft. Need for impact LBers, RB and Safety are much more important. Besides, none of those we have were 1st rders and we do rush the paser pretty good with this group.

This pass rush is pretty much contingent on one man, Geno Atkins.
If Geno isn't in, the defenses have done really well moving the ball on us. We got lucky with some coverage sacks. But basically if Geno ain't driving the pocket, **** ain't happening out there.

Greene is a perfect fit for what we need.
Montgomery is one of the few true 4-3 DE in this class.
I could see after that it gets sketchy.

I agree. I'm not feeling Montgomery. We should take a DE even if we keep Johnson however. Marvin said no more small Lb's not in the AFCN so Greene may note fit.

Only you? Probably not. But with Sanu emerging, Green and Gresham we will likely look elsewhere in the first.
We have a lot of guys with expiring contracts on defense. Id expect LB or DE to be the top pick

If it's the BPA. I think the position is kinda weak this year. I'd take one with our early 2nd if we think we need one that bad. Should have better options then.

I think Hunter or Woods could easily be there with our first 2nd round pick. I wouldnt object to either if they are BPA there.

It's common knowledge that most of those sacks are from laser beams emitted from the eyes of Geno, where MJ or Gilberry were the player to tag the QB down when they fell for the play. Truth.

2) Khaseem Greene, OLB Rutgers This would be an awful pick at 2. I'd rather wait for Hodges from PSU and draft G. Bernard UNC, RB here.

3) TJ McDonald, S USC Not if Tony Jefferson, Baccarri Rambo, or even Shawn Williams are still on the boards

OK, I concede the point on this one. Just checked out some more film on the guy. Looks like a potential candidate for SAM. I like the way he gets after the QB coming off the edge, and he looks more than decent in coverage.
