He obviously has experience recruiting in the South. That's a huge plus for any college program. It's an encouraging move for a program that hasn't heard much good news in recent days.

Hopefully this guy sticks around for a while. Otherwise UC could become a sort of coaching springboard like Miami (OH) was in the 30s-50s

Wow. Pretty amazing hire by UC. An upgrade over Butch Jones for sure. This may help UC get a spot in a new conference.

Offseason checklist: 1. Fire Paul Alexander [ ] didn't happen 2. Let Maualuga go, move Burfict to MLB [ ] didn't happen 3. Sign a veteran WR [ ] 4. Draft a speed back high [ x ] 5. Draft a SS high [ x ] 6. Drop Lawson, draft a replacement [ x ] 7. Draft a center and let him battle with Cook & Robinson [ ] 8. Let Clements go [ x ] 9. Bring back Andre Smith [ x ] 10. Bring back MJ (as long as he doesn't demand elite money) [ x ] These things need to happen to take the next step

I am a die hard Michigan fan, but I do root for UC when I see them on tv and this is a big deal for them and should help them big time in the Big East.

Time will tell if he will be an upgrade over Butch. Meaning see how Butch does these next few years at Tenn. Tuberville has had a pretty decent career, but these last three years, his team wasn't exactly a powerhouse relative to the teams they played. So basically, I can't say if he actually will be a huge upgrade over Butch. But I will say it was a very good hire in response to the situation.
