It's a true shame, the kid who died was undrafted, and he was finally getting his chance to chase his dream and it was taken away from him because his team mate was too stupid to call a cab. I hope Brent is convicted.

Truly a sad situation, gotta feel for Brown's family. I hope the kid knew JESUS as his LORD & SAVIOUR.

From Jungle noise thread....
A few years ago my cousin got a ride home from a friend from a bar who was drunk and he did not know it. The dude hit a tree in front of my cousin’s house and my Uncle ended up identifying his son's body at the hospital and has never been the same. You see my cousin was trying to be responsible and knew he was too drunk to drive home himself. His friend convinced him not to call a cab because he "had only had one and was fine to take him home." The driver was unhurt and later tested with a high alcohol level. Did my cousin make the wrong decision....obviously. But the point is that we do not know what the situation was last Sat morning when Brown got into his car. Perhaps he was too intoxicated to realize that dude was drunk. It is really classless to blame the victim. |

Anyway, this was just a bunch of bad decisions all the way around. Brown shouldn't have gotten in the car, and Brent shouldn't have been driving. I like what Cowher said yesterday about players being suspended AND fined after a first DUI offense. To take it a step further, if you're convicted of 3 DUIs in your career you should be banned from the league for life. Being intoxicated and driving puts lives needlessly at risk and there's absolutely no excuse for doing it, especially as an adult and role model. |
